Super Mario Run downloads hit 37.26m - App Annie

That's according to data firm App Annie, which revealed that the US accounted for 11,052,106 of those downloads and that 1,991,086 UK gamers own the title.

We have asked App Annie how many of those downloads converted into full purchases of the title. The game was available for free to download, but only included a small proportion of the game. Those that wanted to experience all the levels had to pay $9.99 (£8) - which is significantly higher than your normal smartphone title. We'll update the story once we've received a figure

Thats really impressive!I wanna see now how people can spin this into something bad.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

A nice Win for Nintendo .

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Cool, but how many are paid?? -_-
I know we aren't going to know anytime soon but it's really the only thing that matters about this game.

Yes and no. This game is also about introducing Mario to the younger tablet/mobile crowds. So just being seen or at least heard about is also important here.

Bro we just get news. Every time we get something we cant just be like "but but". I mean day 1 we got the first announcement and people said the same thing as what your saying right now, yet we got paid numbers just a couple hours later.

Think of it like shipments and sell thru.

Nice

Ony problem is that with shipments the publishers actually get paid. So the analogy doesn't work here.

Correct me if im wrong but i think they still get paid with just downloads. Obviously not as much but still. Thats said an advantage this game gets for DLs is brand exposure like pokemon go that it boost software sales for said franchise (super mario run already boosted sales for nsmb for wii on amazon for ex) like super mario maker 3ds.

Lastly my analogy wasnt more on getting paid. I was saying in comparison that company reveals downloads like shipments and sometimes give out sell thru like paid (mobile)

Ex Pokemon SuMo nintendo gave out 10mil shipment figure and not sell thru intill the following week, with super mario run they gave out downloads first followed by paid consumers in a couple hours.

No, they don't. Super Mario GOTY is ads-free. So unless players buy the full game, Nintendo/Apple don't get any money.

It's down to 4 (from 3) in the Japanese trop grossing chart. That's a good rank giving how massive the Japanese smartphone gaming industry is. It's also down to 2 in Austrilia and Spain. Holding on to no.1 in many big markets, including the USA/UK/Germany. I am hoping it remains in the top 5 or top 10 in Japan, because that would be good news, always.

Again, I feel like I should remind people, the numbers we are getting from these analytic firms are not accurate. App annie releases a report on SMGOTY every day or so, and all gaming/tech-centered websites report these numbers with a link to app annie website. It's basically free publicity for those firms.
