You guys are acting like Platinum Games didn't understand Bayonetta's relative unpopularity, especially on Nintendo consoles were here games never appeared before. You keep saying it "flopped" but that's comparing it to titles like Donkey Kong or Splatoon - Bayonetta 2's budget was probably fit around the idea that it would sell just under a million copies. And Nintendo helped development costs and advertising. So I don't understand what yall getting at...just because it's not a million seller doesn't make it a flop. Seriously, I honestly think almost everyone calling it a flop is just subconciously remembering all the terribly written articles calling it out as a flop without much sense to them.
I mean it's clear that Xbox One gamers hardly buy BIG TRIPLE A third party titles like Rise of the Tomb Raider or Sunset Overdrive, so what, you'd want Bayonetta on that console? Honestly, I have a feeling that if nintendo and Platinum weren't such a weird couple for Bayonetta's development, it wouldn't have gotten the traction it did. It only sold so well because it was "that weird mature title from Nintendo". It would have gotten barried by the Xbox and Playstation.
Regardless, almost 1 million(maybe one million including digital?) on an install base of 13 million is great. If we scaled that to say 23 million install base or 40 million install base, it would have sold much better than Bayonetta on 2 different platforms. Either way, you can not lie that the percentile of sales is dispaportionate. If Bayonetta 3 releases on the Switch with as much marketing as 2 had, oh boy.....
Now we just have to hope the Switch is good.
