Konami sales have gone up by 7%. MGS4 will be relased before their next facial year which is March 31, 2008. Konami says that MGS4 will be a huge contributer for the next facial year.

 Dave Karracker the sales marketing at Sony says that the sales of the PS3 is because of the internet. Sony needs to fire this guy. First it was software now its the internet. everyone knows the poor sales is because of price.

 And what is Sony thinking. instead of lowering thie PS3 it acually made the price higher in South Africa. I wouldnt be surprised if it happen to us , Europe or Japan

Karracker's job is to perform PR damage control for the PS3. Look at how little most people know about the hardware, the retail sales or even the game library -- if they can be convinced that the PS3's purported weaknesses are just in the minds of Sony's detractors, then he can sell more systems. The vast majority of people who bought the PS2 haven't heard much about the PS3 beyond, "it's the new playstation" and possibly, "it's $600". He's not trying to be honest. If he came out and said, "yeah, a lot of what they're saying is true -- we aren't selling many PS3s, a lot of exclusives are leaving us and we're almost certainly to drop the price this year. It may be a while until our game library approaches that of our competitors," then he'd hurt retail sales significantly. His goal is to sell PS3s. In this case, he's trying to create uncertainty about what's happening to do so.

 no it has a good deal with the internet actually. To many fanboys dissing the PS3 when most of what they say isnt true and people of lessor knowledge of the consoles doesnt know if its fact or fiction what the person is saying. 

And the internet differentiates from the regular populace how, exactly? If people are saying it on the internet, they're saying it in real life, too. Sony and the PS3 are leaving the populace with a bad taste in their mouths right now, internet or no. 

It's not just the internet, I can assure you that. I've been to a number of gamestores who openly dissuade customers from buying a PS3. The word of mouth for the PS3 has stretched beyond cyperspace. They need to have more Sony Gamer's Day events.

Can you honestly say that what people say on the internet has much influence on what you (or people you know) buy?

They are trying as hard as possible to keep the discussion away from "The PS3 is selling poorly because it is $600" because that leads to people anticipating a price reduction; if people think that the PS3 will drop $100 or $200 in the next 2 months they're unlikely to buy one this month. Their strategy started off with "The PS3 is selling poorly because it has no good games at the moment" which is an awful thing to say being that you're basically saying your system is no good for gamers at the moment. They have switched to saying that it is the "internets fault" because it is one of the few excuses they can use which doesn't look bad for Sony.

The reality is that it is very easy to talk yourself out of a $600 purchase that is not essential, so Sony has a great deal of difficulty converting any consumer interest into a sale.

I like this guy's spin. From the article: "Karakker said that while there were some perceptions on PS3 that were justified. For example, Sony didn't have nearly enough hardware at launch to meet consumer demand."

Or, in other words: "Everything the internet says is false, except for the fact that our system sold out at launch and that we didn't have enough systems to meet demand then."

 Basically, the only positive time frame for the PS3 thus far has been those first 1-2 weeks of retail, when everyone was out to get one and they were selling for 1k+ on Ebay. He'll admit that all those facts are totally true. But the last 6 months where the PS3 has sold at a mediocre clip and has recieved a lot of negative press? All lies and slander.

In europe SONY is doing fabulous. It is murdering Wii and x360 in some places.
