I think a better question would by: why do you want circlejerking instead of discussion? OK, that's a bit provocative I suppose, but it seems you're basically asking why anyone with a negative opinion would come in a thread.

You think I'm a "circle jerk" kind of guy? Me? ME!?! I have failed you.

Sorry, I don't think I've ever had much discussion with you, so I don't really remember what exactly you usually post. :D

You may or may not like, but bringing person past and moderation history in a thread is against the rules. So it making an echochamber or not because of it is a matter to discuss with the headmod.

That shouldn't come under scrutiny. it doesn't outside of the forums, especially when you are trying to tell others about how a eprson acts. I find it the most dishonest aspect of a human, tod eny others being told of someone's habits and history, basically lying about who they are for them.

Discussing with "headmod" doesn't do anything either.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

There was a time when I was one of the most popular guys here. Almost won member of the year like twice ! Lately I just go with the flow and I stay under the radar. I used to have people calling me an Xbox fanboy via XBL and a PlayStation fanboy via PSN.

Really, I just buy everything and wherever I saw a one sided argument, I'd jump in and counter. Usually with facts. Sometimes, just being an asshole. I was a PlayStation owner that hated Sony or an Xbox owner that attacked Xbox.

But really, I was an undercover Nintendo fan the whole time!

think people should be able to voice any opinion on things they care about, but it should be praise, constructive criticism, feedback and be told in a genuine manner and allow for discussion. Also if they don't have factual knowledge about something that's factual they should shut up and if they've made a mistake they should correct themselves.

Most gamers on youtube and IGN are anything but this. They complain about every little thing, are often factually wrong about technical sides of games, do not accept a different opinion and talk in a way that no one can take them and their opinion seriously. Also blindly defending something and bashing on another mostly when it comes to platforms and exclusive games.

When you give your opinion you should accept that others will also give their opinions and they would not be the same. The discussion should be civil. However I see gamers acting like little kids when it comes to discussing anything so I wonder if statistics saying that the average gamer is 30 year old are completely wrong.

Also I hate the bandwagon mentality of gamers and their view that critical acclaim is all that matters. Also PC gamers on youtube and facebook are the worst of the bunch. Absolutely intolerable and that is coming from someone who does play on a PC.

I don't do that. I demand a cookie.

you don't need to own a particular console or like a particular game to have a valid opinion of it.

True. But it's when somebody doesn't own or like a particular thing and they pretend to know more things than people who actually do own or like said things that is the problem. Mostly if the reason somebody dislikes something is because "it's not from my preferred brand".

I guess my biggest pet peeve is when somebody hates something until it's in their favor. Then, it's a big deal. Hypocrisy, in other words.

Im my experience on forums, a large portion of the "you clearly don't have x console or y game" is based purely on assumption, just because a particular person openly favors a particular game, franchise or manufacturer, even if they directly admit to doing so, does not mean that making assumptions on what they do or do not own validates or invalidates their points.

And for situations where nobody can actually own a particular product, because it isn't actually out, nobody really has the higher ground on the topic to begin with, since everyone is judging based on what they have seen or heard alone.

And actually, even if someone openly says they do not have a particular console or game, and openly states that they think a particular game or console sucks, doesn't the fact that they don't own it actually bolster their opinion rather than invalidate it? seeing as them not owning it supports the opinion they are giving, rather than decrediting it?

I get where you're coming from on people trolling and being negative just to tick other users off, but pretty much everyone on every forum ever is guilty of doing so to another user at least once in their posting lifetimes, it's a common thing, thankfully frequent abusers of such tactics are easy to spot, the only real issue is dealing with them, especially if they're long standing or well liked users as it upsets the apple cart and incites other users to push back against the moderation team because a particular user who was clearly ticking off a particular fanbase had the blessing of others who may share the same sentiment but skirt around the idea of openly stating it themselves.

In many cases the moderation team themselves can find themselves dealing our harsher punishments and lighter punishments based on which group is doing what, too, because by our very nature it's near impossible to be entirely unbiased.

It's all smoke and mirrors, frankly. I don't think asking users to keep out of threads or forum sections for consoles or games they have no interest in, will do anything other than push the trolling to be even more devious, underhanded and personal.

And if i'm honest, I find the poll answers available for the thread to be projecting somewhat.

It is possible to give constructive criticism and to facilitate arguments about why you feel a particular piece of hardware or software has shortcomings, and to do so in a respectful manner, allowing for rational and thoughtful discussion with the inclusion of varying opinions.

That being said, it does seem like there are a lot of whiny butthurt trolls out there who need to get a life.

But your last line is the exact opposite of your first paragraph, and a demonstration of the very thing you are apposing.

Bolded part demonstates the opposite of constructive criticism, to be specific.

The bolded really stands out to me. That's something I haven't taken into account. You're right. Owning something does kind of make you defensive of it.

I guess there's a balance.

*Only meant to bold that particular paragraph. Darn cellphone*
