Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Switch NDA restrictions.

Generally speaking, companies don't announce titles for a system before the official reveal event. The company heads need to have there chum chum event and announce big things. They can only show their hardware so much, then they need to show games for hype. A new Mario will be great for core Nintendo fans, but if they want to attract a broader base having third parties reveal their titles at the event will create buzz.

Don't want them to reveal other NS features and allowing all to focus on this Xmas.

Two months is enough time to build up hype.

well, i dont know. but they clearly jumped the holidays.
maybe some thirdy party games on switch and its ads could hurt 3ds holidays sales...

They probably everything to come together at the proper reveal, and everyone revealing games in advance would probably spoil it (sort of). Also, they might accidentally reveal something about the console as well. For example, seeing the games in action could reveal something about the console's technical capability.

Besides, a few months should be more than enough to advertise the games, and the later the games are revealed, the less chance there is for delays.

They basically want to condense the hype into a small period of time.

Think it's pretty much this as well, build up hype before launch, then let people go out and buy shit loads of the console based on that Hype, if you show people the console and all the games pre Xmas, then over the holidays they get a X1 or PS4 they might be happy with that and less likely to be shocked by the same games coming out in March enough to buy the system, Get holiday season over and done with, then start to build the hype for March launch. Best idea I think.

Hope the switch does fantastic. It could be a great machine if people buy into it and there is no issues with hardware, Power or RROD type issues I mean.

Or samsung phone bomb issues... that would be some Bad PR, get kids gathered around a switch and have it blow up.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

What I don't understand is why third parties would agree to only having 2 months to advertize their games?

Maybe on the NDA they signed was stipulated "No announcing until reveal",  and they just didn't know it was gonna be for such a short period of time.

LOL

Yeah, that might be some bad PR.

Hmm, they might be taking the approach Sun and Moon did: starting with small bits of news and building up to bigger and bigger bits over time.

January is simply Ultra Beast/Red and Blue time for them.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?
