Yes. The environment is an important and precious thing. He has no regard for it and will continue to destroy years of efforts to finding solutions for protecting our earth. I believe people generations from now should not be screwed over by people of today who willingfully helped fuck up everything just to earn fast $$ now. |
I respect your opinon as anyone should as you have your reasoning but personally believe that this climate change/warming is a red herring in it's current form in the political sense.
Unless all countries with potential to spew out offending emissions are neutered then it really is just kicking the can down the road. Getting India for example to cooperate on climate change goals is simply not going to happen for at least 30 years taking into account it's current growth and place in the world economically.
Back to US politics and likewise unless a democract with the ethics of a progressive and that can also force both houses to to tow the line of the president, it's also just lip service. (this will never happen as things stand now)
Climate change accords are a watered down waste of time, and the work it took to get where we are now was years of pressure from non government groups.
Without genuine government backing climate change will just be an afterthought and lip service to get believers' votes with nothing done.
The only thing that can possibly get climate change to be taken seriously by the whole electorate is when the world is actually physically on the edge of doom and that doom is visible obviously, not just through the scientific community reaching concensus on a point of no return. We have a long way to go for that to happen and by which point it will allegedly be too late.
So what's the point?
Sort it out now, or forget about it is the only way. We clearly aren't going to sort it out now so let's just forget about it.
Not even hard left dems on the whole will put their political career on the line to force the issue - that's what it needs.
