Huh?

Nothing, I just checked forum rules right now and everything's OK.

Win32 applications don't need to be ported either. I wouldn't have bothered with the news if that was the case.

Yeah, I got that impression and you cleared it up for me already. :P I just wanted to point out to him that at least some applications are guaranteed to run, even without emulation.

Sorry. I block images from loading up sometimes and I don't notice whom I am replying to.

No harm done but that's certainly an odd thing to do these days. It's a good explanation though. :D I used to block images on mobile years ago when I didn't have a proper data plan yet.

How do Qualcomm keep doing insane stuff like this?
Those dudes are badass at hardware.

Or they are simply making Windows 10 compatible with ARM. Wouldn't be the first hardware agnostic OS.

Linux based operating systems (especially Debian) work anywhere you want them to; Debian has a repository of over 40,000 packages of software, that work on almost any CPU on the planet.

https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/installmanual

This link sends you to a list of different CPU architectures that Debian alone officially supports, as well as including a guide on how to install for each.

So yeah, Microsoft better supporting ARM is like you state, no big deal.

I'm more of a Mint kind of guy. ;-P

Mint is based on Ubuntu, which is based on Debian. Good for you, I suppose. And me, since Mint is great and I like it too!

X86 should be patended by Intel/IBM and X64 by AMD - so Qualcomm had to buy licenses or we are going into the next phase of legal battles.

Qualcomm is not making  an X86 CPU, Microsoft is creating a layer that can translate X86 binaries to an ARM CPU, which is entirely legal and has been done for quite a while (like QEMU and Exagear).

IBM is only focused on POWER at the moment as well.

So this windows build could run (including apps) on any ARM CPU?

Debian is nice, it is also the distro I use day to day.

I recommend taking a look at Alpine.

Them M$ engineers are monsters! First they Frankensteined BC of 360 games onto an Xbone. Now they have brought this monstrosity! The Church won't be pleased with this. It's like they are splicing DNA and acting as the hand of God. 😤 This all reeks of Evil.

Also, the thread title sounds dirty. Like some kind of nerd porn. 😐
