Including digital it's definitely behind halo still but congrats on beating it on retail. also by shooter I presume you only mean fps shooter? Because there are third person shooters ahead of splatoon.

Are we comparing a game that has just released with a game that has been in the market for more than 15 months. Besides it already outsold Splatoon and series generally don't sell much more with a higher install base. Look at the difference between Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 for example or the gears of wars series. Nintendo released a good game which for some reason outsold halo 5 physically, but it's nowhere near Battlefield, Star wars or Call of Duty sales.

You're just assuming without evidence, eshop vs xbxo live means nothing without numbers. I could assume and say that halo 5 digital sales are not that great cause people are not happy about buying a 60gb digital game. You don't need evidence to know that XBO digital sales are higher than WiiU digital sales. I don't know that my Kitchen isn't on fire right now, but I can assume it isn't with 99.99% confidence.

A comparison of total sales (digital + retail), total number of players, active number of players...  of the cartoon team shooters (Splatoon, Overwatch and Team Fortress 2) would be interesting.
