Forums - Nintendo - I honestly wouldn't mind if Nintendo never made another "realistic" Zelda game.

Edit:Just to clarify, the realistic approach would be in the same vein as Starocean said:It just take a more serious approach to the artstyle rather than photo-realism.

You talking about me? @_@

Ops!Sorry!I am on the phone, and when I was writing, I was just so convinced that you were Starocean, and was so lazy to check it, that I just went with it.

Now now, I just noticed how awesome your avatar and posts are.Lets be friends and not resort anything close that resembles a ban for this insult, right buddy-buddy?

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

One of the things I appreciate about what Nintendo has done with Zelda is the diversity in art style...
The series has gone in so many different directions artistically...
I've seen a lot of people on the web complain that they never mix things up with Zelda, but I think they've definitely taken some serious risks with Zelda's art direction, especially for a company that relies so heavily on brand recognition...
I think it would be really refreshing if they took similar risks with Mario...

Have a nice day...

Mind it? I would freakin love it and welcome it with open arms! I loved OoT, MM, and TP. So dark and beautiful. I really wanted the latest one to follow in those footsteps.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

I actually agree the differing art directions has kind of become a trait of the franchise on top of helping the games age better. Decades ago I would have disagreed but after the past few games my preference has shifted towards the more cel shaded approach, it just seems to bring out more expression in the series.

Nah it's okay. Star-senpai is usually a good guy. At least when he isn't beating me up...

Seriously...now that I think about it, we are like doppelgangers. Maybe I'll use a Lusamine avatar next to confuse everyone even more.

There is no realistic Zelda. If we compare the series with TES Skyrim, Zelda has always had a very prominent artstyle that made the world and its inhabitants look somewhat cartoony (even TP, just look at the NPC and tell me they're realistic). Compare that to Skyrim, where everything looks what a realistic take on the fantasy world should look like.

This. Zelda has always had an exaggerated, stylistic aesthetic. Technology has held it back. See the concept art for the N64 versions versus the finished product. The in-game graphics are angular and relatively subdued in terms of colour scheme. Yet, the art is stylised and colourful. This holds up through the 3DS versions, which realise what the N64 couldn't.

I agree. Leave that for Metroid and to some extent a new F-Zero (Fast Racing Neo with better art design)
Realism ages like a glass of milk on a hot summer road. Wind Waker still looks great and while some textures in BotW won't age the best, the overall game will look fine in a decade.

I don't mind a realistic art style as long as the content is still fantasy with the Triforce and the legends and the magic. Twilight Princess looked realisticish but it also had an imp that hid in your shadow, spoke in a weird way, and was from a shadow dimension.
