Because what they are doing is pretty much the best way to ensure Crash can become potentially successful again.

And ND is tied up (they dont even have their co-director for TloU2 since he is on sabbatical)

Well, fair enough on both points. Hopefully the Crash trilogy remake is successful, and can warrent a new Crash game.
