Yes, probably. From what little we've heard it sounds like Konami treated Kojima as spitefully as they could. I'm sure del Toro knows a lot more about just how bad it really was.

I think he may have been more vocal because now that everyone has parted ways and no longer on contracts or what not. He was waiting to say this ever since they canceled the game. Of course I have no proof and just blindly speculating here.

Money, I can tell you mile away this would be money pit, The whole project and how well it would have sold. Funny enough death stranded might not be money pit because sometimes controvesy creates cash.
