Forums - Sony - Did Sony Doom the PSVR?

That 2.6 million sold estimate that company gave was absolutely insane anyway. Sony itself only predicted around a million around the end of their fiscal year, which would still give them a majority presence in VR.

why would they have BF deals when they didn't have any stock?

anyway, 2.6m was incredibly optimistic by the end of the year

They cut the price to 334,- in some stores, didnt sell out, the VR unit has been stocked in every store that sells it, sure, some people picked it up, but here in europe, its not being sold increadibly well, like the ps4 or ps4 pro or nintendo 3ds, which all top it.

The main reason when I read forums from my country seems to be the lack of a true AAA- exclusive VR experience, the maze of cables, and the fact people prefer a PS4Pro over the VR

They're just doing Nintendo marketing of artificial scarcity. It'll probably work. They will deliver new ones a s soon as the scalpers could sell their stock.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm part of the problem.... I opted to buy a PS4pro instead of a PSVr this year. Oh nos I killed VR!!!!

750k is really good if they can hit that. They just messed up on their prediction, anybody can see 2.6M in 3 months for a $400 headset isn't going to happen.

The only thing doomed is your grammar :P

Exactly what I was going to post.

The limited stock is hurting current potential, but I guess even Sony is waiting for "real games" to push their VR. At any rate, I'm more willing to accept slow production and low supply of VR headsets than certain other, far less complicated electronic devices.

Oooooh! Thats huge difference!

Its more then 70% less then originally expected, 30% of 2.6 milion = 780k
So yeah, they proberbly could have reported something sooner.

I had an itch, it didn't feel right, every store I go in seeing boxes of VR, boxes of VR games, I know at least 20 people at work and friends who own a ps4, nobody has a VR headset, I did see commercials during soccer, and some posters, and initial pre-orders seemed high but sony has been a bit quiet and altough reviews where possitive, like i said above, all the real AAA-hyped games this year are not on VR and people spent their money on that instead, it seems.

Sony has a chance to do something, but they will need to release some good games. Maybe next weekend during PSX they will show some VR stuff that will start selling the hardware.
