Forums - General - Recommend me an amazing movie.

Road Warrior is awesome. Mad Max is pretty good. Beyond Thunderdome overdoes it a bit, but while the overall movie falters, there are still plenty of isolated set pieces that work quite well.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

I know most of you didn't see this movie and don't know if many will like it but
"Streets of Fire" was awesome - just get over the corny aspect of it:)

Rent this movie! I saw it over 23 times.
Diane Lane at her finest. (think she was 20 or something). Very hot!

I just watched Rebecca last night on TCM. It was Hitchcock's first movie in America, starring Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine. Really cool, old-school movie. The film has a gradual build to it, like many films of it's era, taking the time to lay out a chilling, suspenseful mental thriller.

Like I always do after watching a film, I went to IMDB to read up on it. One of the co-stars, George Sanders, did the voice of Shere Khan in Disney's Jungle Book! Talk about throwing me for a loop.

I'm not sure if you still need a good movie BenKenobi....

but I highly recommend American Astronaut. It's difficult to find....but any cult video store or netflix should have it.

I recommend you go watch Iron Man ........again ^_^

You should go see Iron man. The movie was awesome

Wow, great movies mentioned in this thread! Many of my favorites have already been mentioned, so I'll try to toss out some that (I think) have been left out thus far.

Grizzly Man
An almost creepy kind of documentary about Timothy Treadwell, a bear enthusiast who spent his summers in Alaska and ended up eaten by a bear.

The Good Shepherd (the one about OSS/CIA)
I found this movie to be one of the best movies of recent years. The best quality is that it doesn't provide you with ready answers but instead challenges you to think.

The Adversary with Daniel Auteuil
This is probably the most depressing and grim movie I have ever seen. Daniel Auteuil is brilliant as the man whose life of lies starts to crumble, IMO his acting is what really makes this a favorite of mine. But be warned, if you're anything like me you'll be shocked and depressed after the movie, which is based on real life events.

Night of the Living Dead (the original)
You've probably seen this already, but for anybody who hasn't, this movie has one of the best endings in movie history.

Everything by Hayao Miyazaki
My personal favorites are Tonari no Totoro, Kurenai no buta and Mononoke-hime.

Amelie
A wonderful feel-good movie, it's just about impossible not to like Audrey Tautou in this :)

Ghost in the Shell
An anime movie that has the bling and a thought-provoking story, what more could you ask for?

Well, that's what I could think of now.

equilibrium, smoking aces, troy, 300, the fountain (great music), the Illusionist, enemy at the gates, a prefect stranger. those are some of my favs.

Another movie I really enjoyed not that long ago was Little Children. It's not at all what you expect.

In case they haven't been thrown out there yet, I'll also toss in Eastern Promises and History of Violence. Viggo Mortenson has impressed me a lot lately. I really liked History of Violence though it's better if you go into the movie knowing nothing about it. The entire movie just blindsides you that way.
