Yes, they are SO biased they even went the extra mile of hiding their evilness by giving the game scores denoted as "great" on their sites in giant bold letters.  Oh wait...that's the opposite of bias.

It would be far more pathetic and useless for them to be dishonest and cave to the peer pressure of hype culture and shill out a score higher than they feel it deserves.

And XV has no 10s.  And the divide between 9s and 8s is pretty even so what are you on about?

These western reviewers gave Overwatch a 10/10, a 4 GB game for 70€ rigged with microtransactions. What is the better product? This or FFXV for 65€, 50+ GB content with much much better graphics imo? Its also the only JRPG that is AAA.

And Gamespot and IGN are counted higher which is unfair, Famitsu wont be allowed to give their score because they are Japanese how is Metacritic really fair?

I didn't say it was fair, just that your complaint makes 0 sense whatsoever.  And if fair averaging is what you want, go to Open Critic.  I hope the 1 extra point that gets FFXV makes you feel better.  Metacritic isn't perfect, but it's an average and averages are not even that valuable as a metric.  It's a hub for finding reviews and a very basic means of getting a feel for the general critical temperature regarding a title.

It's really ridiculous how people will consider a score between 80 and 85 as low. As if all games had to be 95 to be considered good.
-___-

8 out of 10 is still a really good score.

But I suspect Ruler scored the game 10 out of 10 before he even played a second of it.

Why shouldnt it be 10/10? its the AAA JRPG this gen the only one of its genre. I played the game, the Platinum Demo, Episode Duscae and the Judgement  Demo thats more than enough

Scores don't start at 10 and go down, the game has to justify it's 10.  Also, Xenoblade Chronicles X came out like last year, so it's not the only AAA JRPG on the market, though they are few.  But scarcity doesn't earn you bonus points.

actually it is not. I gave the official designations for those scores.

Your personal standard may be different, but 86 is a "great" score.

I would have liked FF to be more around 90. 92 is kinda the ceiling on a FF game, FF7, FF10, FF12 all had 92s, and reviewers are more harsh now than before (which is why a 75 is now green on meta where as even last gen it was yellow).

I don't really care what's 'official' because it's still someone's interpretation. Besides, it not being great was my personal opinion, not a reflection on some arbitrary standards.

I agree with your last paragraph. Personally I'd have liked this to be even more than 90 (probably at least), but what can you do.

ah, getting 20% off preorders sounds good! Lucky Canadians!

Loll. It basically gets us down to the MSRP of the US version... And then the taxes come in and we all cry in a corner while drinking maple syrup as we hug our hockey sticks for comfort

Your point? That's IGN's interpretation of it, and that literally falls under what I just said. And if you really insist on using the word 'official' in a Metacritic thread, at least use Metacritic's interpretation and not a single site's interpretation.

It will fall a lot.

The 25 reviews we have now are probably the more high scored for reasons. Prepare to see some yellows reviews for the 75 others reviews to come.

Are you thinking the same thing I thinking?

Probably yeah.

Anyyyway, like i said, now you will maybe see a lot of yellow reviews , and no, it's not only clickbait.

Tks god gamekult and eurogamer aren't on meta anymore, or ff15 would already have another 50 and 60.

Maybe some reviewers put different emphasis on things? Maybe some people feel that content is not king and that a core gameplay loop can be incredibly fun?

I'd give Rocket League a 10 even though it's just about cars jumping around in medium great graphics with barely any content. Yet I've spent over 1000h with it and I have no intention to stop. Meanwhile FFXV bores me to death and hasn't even 100h of content while costing more. Perspective?

If you're so about AAA and graphics how would you like it if all reviewers rated console games 2/10 because the graphics and performance aren't nearly as good as the PC ports?

Perspective.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

The fact that people complain that an 8.2 is too low is really ridiculous, especially when they haven't even played the game. I prefer movie critics over game critics, at least they don't get impressed by everything. I've watched movies I liked that scored 60% and I've played many games I hated that scored over 90% on metacritic (like Rayman Legends or Bayonetta 2).

I think Pokémon Sun and Moon for example is much superior to Pokémon X/Y, but it scored one point lower than it. See for yourself, go back to X/Y after having played Sun and Moon, it's a massive difference for the worst.
