Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo doesn't need to make new IP's, they need to manage their current ones

Lol what are you smoking? Sony has more IPs. Hell I think even Microsoft has more IPs than Nintendo.

Don't have to be offended by it. If you want, you can research all of these companies' IPs and compare. :P

Good thing I did huh.

I'm sure you've looked at the number of IPs each company has before making this post.

Yup, I actually did.

I've done a quick count for Sony and Nintendo and he may be right on that front at least.

Sony Worldwide Studios - 72 IP's

Nintendo - 39 IP's

I sincerely doubt the combined force of my brain and Wikipedia have missed that many Nintendo IP's....

Though that is only counting Super Mario, Mario Kart and Mario Party for all Mario games... so 39 definitely isn't total if you count them.

Wow 72 IPs. You seem to off by 180 IPs.

From what I've counted, Sony has around 250 while Nintendo has around 50-60.

That's not true buddy, you could do a research instead of being ignorant. I'm not going to waste make time with you and I'm not going to post a list, so move on.

That's not true? Lol? what? You're calling me ignorant when I actually did research and get that Sony has around 250 IPs while Nintendo has around 50-60. LOL..... my goodness. The only person that's ignorant is you.

You can never have too many IPs, and there's no reason they can't make new IPs while also bringing back old ones like they've been doing, they just need to increase the frequency on both is all.

Not saying you are wrong, but if you are going to argue with 4 different people about the same thing than wouldnt it make sense to provide evidence supporting your claim?

Ya in the last few years we have seen the revival of Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion, Star Fox, Pilotwings & Pikmin while seeing new additions like Splatoon, Nintendo Land, Captain Toad, Codename STEAM, Pushmo, Steel Diver

They need to continue and expand on this.

Nintendo has produced close to 80 new IPs since 2000 but they do so many smaller ones. Wikipedia is so off it hurts. In that PlayStation topic I listed off a shit load of IPs. I won't get into a big thing about it but Wiki misses stuff like Disaster Day of Crisis or Captain Rainbow,Cruis'n and Eternal Darkness. All Nintendo IPs as is Fatal Frame now. Nintendo gives more attention to a select few IPs maybe too much sometimes as well we have this stigma Nintendo only makes the same stuff. This list is old now and since gotten more new IPs http://nintendoenthusiast.com/article/updated-75-new-nintendo-ips-since-year-2000/

Since this we got stuff like Splatoon and Wonderful 101 and Pushmo.

Simple aint it? Took my 5 seconds to find that and that person called me ignorant.

And now, I'm actually 100% sure that even Microsoft has more IPs than Nintendo. And both Microsoft and Sony have been in the industry for less time.

That's a better list but I think quite a few of of those games aren't owned by Nintendo, just published. But as of now I think the total would be around 70-80 IPs.

With the unified library that we all want, they'll have to!

I believe there are some flaws in the Sony IP list as well, it has Popolocrois & Q Bert on there.

The most recent Popolocrois title was a 3DS exclusive and the most recent Q Bert title is on iOS/Android/Steam/XBO in addition to Playstation.

I just have a hard time believing those 2 IP are owned by Sony, outside of that there a a bunch of games on that list where Sony only published them in one region like Afrika & Blade Dancer so its hard to tell if they infact own them.

Yeah I know, that list shows around 320 but as I said, it's around 250. I'm not trying to count every single one, this reply was originally about some user saying that Nintendo had the most and when I quickly looked at both lists, it was obvious, Nintendo wasn't even close. Yet that person said I didn't research and called me ignorant (lol).

And Akrika and Blade Dancer are Sony games, just so you know.

I have never even heard about 95% of those games on Sony's list. If we're going to count "franchises" like Jinx we might as well count every individual Pokémon as a Nintendo franchise. Like seriously. You'd get more people to buy a game revolved around Garbador than that Jinx game Sony published.
