Forums - Sales - Famitsu: Pokemon S/M 80-100% sell through, (almost) sold out in Japan, in the first week...

Yeah 80% is the bottom which will mean for every 1% is up will mean the game will sell that much better WW as 10mil shipment was for fw. That means japan alone can add another 2mil to that number alone.

80% example i gave is the worst case scenario, more percentage it sold the better it is

And more % it sold the lower the FW Japanese shipment.

I know which means more sales very soon. I think your missing the point. Less shipment means 2 things.

1) It shipped more outside of japan (since we have 10mil figure)

2) Means the 10mil figure will jump up considerably because it wasnt overshipped (this case japan). Basically saying if it were higher % then japa. Will get more and more shipments adding to that 10mil figure.

Shipment is probably closer to 80% than 90%. Pokemon is available everywhere in Japan, so a second shipment has probably arrived too.

Yeap i agree. Around 80% would mean 450k is on store shelves and around 90% is about 225k.

That said japan will need another shipment either way this week (if not beginning of next week)

This will just make that 10mil figure jump up considerably from japan alone

I can still deem it as an almost selling-out, right? What was the sell through percentage of x/y?

If nintendo shipped a lot of copies this week, will this translate to more sales for that week porportionally or will simply mean more stock for the following weeks ? Do you expect a smaller drop compared with the previous major Pokemon games on 3DS?

Incredible how strong this series is going 20 years on.

I feel like Pokemon has transitioned from being a sensation to being a cultural icon, in the same vein as Star Wars, Mario, Mickey Mouse, etc. Maybe not as popular as the previous stated because it's newer, but I'd put it in that catergory

Beautiful!!! But will we ever know its FW sales besides from Vgchartz?

Does NPD report FW sales?
How about at Europe? And the rest of the world? Can we expect Nintendo to say something on it?

I don't know... It has only two weeks in November npd though, we could extrapolate approximately  its FW sales in the USA by comparing NPD sales and FW sales of here!

I can be sure, that we will find out for its FW sales in the UK, because of MCVUK...

Although, Pokemon S/M is such a huge game release and comes after the Pokemon go mania, at least GFK  could publicizeS/M first week sales, because they have done it with other  major games in the past! As regards npd, I'm not optimistic. We have a notorious leaker on twitter, but I don't know if the NPD breaks down the monthly sales in weeks in their report... The authorized leaker could enlighten us in that!

What was the release date of Pokemon ? I think that this month's NPD will only go until the 28 of November.

18th. 2 weeks (well 10 days) of tracking Nov NPD. That said pokemon can potienally still be the biggest seller this mo th despite COD much earlier release. WD2 i doubt any1 will think will perform good.

Absolutely. Phantom Menace released 22 years after A New Hope. Look at what's happening this year for Pokemon's 20th anniversary with GO & Sun/Moon, it's in the same ballpark

Since the first book released in 97, perhaps a better comparison would be Harry Potter... that pretty much says everything.

If Pokemon outsells Cod, Will it be the first game outside of Call of Duty and GTA to win a year on the USA in over a decade ?

It might be, at least past 7 years. I got to check!

Going by Japan as an indicator Nintendo doesn't seem to have overshipped Pokemon, wich means close to 10m FW are possible.

My copy finally arrived too!
