Forums - Gaming - Dead Rising 4 is not Dead Rising (CrowbCat video)

Just thought of sharing this that resumes pretty much my disenchanted opinion with the franchise I once adored and had as a favourite of mine:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejeIT0MBSac&feature=youtu.be

From the video description:

Dead Rising 4 is the misconception that killing zombies was the draw of Dead Rising. This video shows what Capcom Vancouver has to say about Frank West, time limit, psychopaths, survivors and other important aspects of the game. "We're back to our roots" doesn't seem to be a very appropriate sentence when you're going in a completely opposite direction.

02:53 Survivors cannot be escorted
03:20 Foods are like instant healthpacks
03:47 Maniacs replace psychopaths
04:35 No Frank original voice actor
05:29 Zombies aren't more aggressive at night
05:47 No time limit
08:22 No save locations

Seems more like Capcom listened to people and removed the shitty parts of Dead Rising.

When you remove the things that make Dead Rising, well, Dead Rising, might as well call it something else.

Nobody seem to complain when Capcom turned Frank into Negan, so I guess the old doesnt matter much.

I haven't played a Dead Rising game yet, i have DR3 Apocalypse Edition on my shelf. So I don't really know what made the original games so great. I like the setting of DR4, but I don't know anything else yet that gets me excited

Few people complained, but since Dead Rising 3 already destroyed most, and Capcom Vancouver keeps going in the same line, it's not worth keeping up. But I get it, the majority of people in this case needed the massive simplification, worse narrative and removal of the core aspects that made the game what it was in the first place because otherwise they wouldn't stop complaining about something that wasn't clearly aimed to them. Sad, but doesn't surprise me at all.

^This, especially the survivors being useless.

So... no Adam the clown? And I can't have a group of survivors running around with me with weapons? What the fuck is this game?! :o

Apparently, the Dead Rising game that "fixes" the "shittier" things of the previous ones.

I love the Original Dead Rising, but the stuff you mentioned I wont miss much.

Survivors cannot be escorted - I wont miss escort missions in any video game.
Foods are like instant healthpacks -
Good. Now I can eat an orange to refill my health instead of waiting through 5 eating animations.
Maniacs replace psychopaths
- So they changed the name of the bad guys... Ok.
No Frank original voice actor
- The original voice actor was great, but Frank doesnt look like Frank anymore, so fair enough.
Zombies aren't more aggressive at night
- I dont even remember them being very agressive during the night in the first game. Their eyes just become red.
No time limit
- Great. Now we can actually do some exploring and have fun doing what we want.
No save locations
- Thank god. Cant tell you how annoying it was playing for hours, forgetting to save, die and then have to do hours of work again.

Yea, let's remove the time limit, wouldn't want any sort of tension or challange in the game, god forbids I want to replay it and try to do even more missions or save more survivors, well not like I have survivors to escort now.

Let's also take the unique filled with personality psychopaths, now let's make them random generic maniacs.

RIP juices combination, bye experimentation.

Also take the zombie aggression away, sure no problem, not going to miss that either, remove even more tension.

Sigh, I'll stick with 1 and 2 for the rest of my life.

(Don't even get me started on what they have done to Frank).
