Forums - Gaming - Clueless Gamer: Conan plays FFXV, "Why would someone play this?"

I actually found it quite funny and Im thinking it'll probably help sales.

The decision to mostly skim over the combat and present the game as this  alternative/fantasy drama may intrigue people normally intimidated by RPGs or action games. Established fans of the latter 2 are gonna look to more game centric sources to inform their purchase (Ign etc).

This was good outreach from SE

Stella was just so cool. Luna seems very unimpressive by comparison. I still feel like it's BS that Stella couldn't be integrated into the story like Tabata claims. It was pretty clear that she was going to be torn between her feelings for Noctis and her countries' loyalty to Niflheim, there's no reason why that couldn't have fit into the final story for FFXV.

"Within the overall theme of the journey, the team reasoned on what position a heroine should take, and thought that rather than having a more passive and weak heroine that needs to be saved, it would be much better to have a stronger and more determined female character, who actively engages with the events in the story, and to play that role they thought they needed a different character than Stella."

Never forget Stella.

You guys need to stop with these ridiculous theories. Without Tabata, we wouldn't have got FF15. Very little of what we've seen of "Versus" initially remained in 15.

A lot about the game and how it's played has changed, not just one female character swapped with another. So. many. changes. Stop fixating on what you never had, and look forward to the game that's actually releasing soon.

Seriously, people raving about Stella literally only have these info to go by:

"Stella was a member of the wealthy Fleuret family and resided in the land of Tenebrae. She was shown meeting Noctis at an aristocratic meeting, and it was said the two would share a connection. After a near-death experience early in her life, similar to Noctis, Stella could see the light from the Kingdom of the Dead, which granted her special powers. Although the two did not wish to fight each other, they were forced to do battle as a result of unknown circumstances. Magazine articles drew similarities between her situation and that of Celes Chere from Final Fantasy VI.

There was no new information on Stella since the game was rebranded Final Fantasy XV.

According to staff comments Stella would have been an integral part of the story of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and would have had a strong link to the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythos, though she ultimately had little screentime.[3] Stella would have first met Noctis at the signing ceremony between Lucis and Niflheim, where a great deal of their connection would have been revealed.[4]

[And here's the interesting part:]

She was shown to reluctantly fight Noctis in a trailer, but it has been said the first trailers were conceptual and some elements, like the opposition of Stella and Noctis in the streets of Insomnia, were no longer in Final Fantasy Versus XIII as of 2011.[3] Her relationship with Noctis was to have been platonic rather than romantic.[5] Rescuing her from danger, and learning of her role in the greater scheme of things would have been the central narrative arc of Final Fantasy Versus XIII."

To me, this infatuation with a character they know so little about comes off as obssessive and misguided.

Wow. I am even more baffled now. That's all we know about Stella? Color me shocked.

I never understood why people were so hyped for Versus when we never really knew enough about the game, I also don't understand why some fans hate Tabata so much (he is a genuinely good guy who was given a task, what a sin!). But the Stella obsession takes the cake, I didn't know that Stella was just a concept until now.

Because it has Noctis, duh.

Man, this confirms all my fears about Final Fantasy 15.
After playing FF13-2-3 I though "My Lord, how stupid and overcomplicated can these plots get?"
And when I saw the Zoolander entourage driving their super car I though "This is going to be the most ridiculous style over substance ever released in a videogame, ever..."
And it seems I was correct.
Final Fantasy 1: less is more.
Simple plot, humble beginnings to heroic fate, it is a classic archetype plotline. It works.
4 male models in leather checking out wedding dresses: does not work.
What a waste of time, money and resources...
Sadly, I am calling it: FF15 is another failure. Gamewise, of course. I am sure, SURE, it will sell millions.

This also reads as satire.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Hynad, and Lurkerj, I find both of you obsession about other people's "obsession" to be quite disturbing.

Lurkerj, you need to stop with these ridiculous theories about "Without Tabata, we wouldn't have got FF15" Look, I cannot comment on speculations so just quit.. Here is something both of you might find offensive though, even though it shouldn't; The concept of FFvXIII, and Stella looks a lot better than Tabata's FFXV/Luna, it's what got me and possibily many others interested in the game.

Hey look, you're free to have your opinions alright, but don't make a mockery, or tell others not to like what you don't like.. I mean c'mon, all I said was "never forget about Stella", and both of you, and the chocobo dude BasilZero, got a rack attack.
