Forums - Sony - Forget 4K Or Switch For A Second: VR Is the Real Revolution

Being honest. Tried out the Batman Arkham Playstation VR thing and it really is mind fucking blowing. One of the most mind blowing game experiences I've ever had, up there with playing Super Mario 64 the first time. 4K this and 4K that, hybrid consoles, etc. etc. all these things are a distant small potatoes change compared to what VR is. It's just very early because all of the wires and you can tell the tech will be better with better screen resolution and more horsepower, but yeah I was floored. VR is for real.

Sorry but it won't be a revolution until it becomes cheap(like smart phones. They were a niche product until the iphone)

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

My first experience in vr was also mind blow. But the second not so much. Would certanily work as impulse buy, if was cheap.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

No it won't. Not until we get real VR it won't be a game changer. What we have doesn't deserve to be called VR at all. Same as how those "hover boards" are just motorized scooters that lack a handle

It's been the supposed revolution for 30 years and still isn't and won't be til it's mega cheap and more inclusive of others and removes clunky headsets and stops making many people sick.

If we could get a navigator controler along with the PSMOVE for better controls PSVR would be the king of the Hill, I can see it.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

The time is right for the technology. I played Batman VR, too. Certain moments like Killer Croc have to be experienced first hand. They'll make a believer out of anybody. He's not an image in front of you. He's right there in front of you!

Right on the money. VR is the future. 4K, 8K, new rendering technology, all amounts to nicer looking versions of what we already have. That is why PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, and on and on, are not going to be much different. From a gameplay aspect, we have rrwched the limits of what a traditional controller can offer.

VR and motion change everything. We can now see things in a perspective that is simply impossible on a traditional dispay, and interact with thngs in way impossible on a traditional controller.

As you said, you can see the path things are taking after you play in VR. You can see the immense futute of opportunity ahead. With more power, higher resolution, and better tracking, VR is going to usher in a whole new era of gaming, that will make current games the equivalent of listing to the radio now days.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

I was playing Until Dawn, earlier. You actually FEEL like you're on that roller coaster. I keep trying to get people to understand: you have not looking for a image or a 360 video that's wrapped around you. You're in a living, breathing 3D world with characters you can almost touch. No video or description will do it justice.

Certain games are better in VR than others but the right game? It's mindblowing.

VR gen 3 is gonna be amazing. I hope they hurry up with the development.
