Forums - Gaming - Scorpio wont do native 4K in most AAA games, its basic math

One thing you can be certain of, there are more 4k native titles on PS4 Pro right now, today, than there'll be in Scorpio's lifetime. It's also basic math, just not the same kind of math.

what do you mean? scorpio not being sucessfull?

Wow, there's some serious misinformation about resolutions in this thread. Anyways...

Scorpio won't be a true 4K console with 6tf spec, if Scorpio specs are increased it's a different story but at the moment 6tf is the number we got. Even if Scorpio would be able to do native 4K now and possibly in 2017, the problem is games will get more demanding and Scorpio will fall off the native 4K train at some point and move on to dynamic resolutions.

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Scorpio will be a lot less bottlenecked than PS4 Pro, so it's pixel throughput will be much higher.

Surely will fill a 4K screen more proper than the alternative , and it shouldn't have to sacrifice framerate to do so.

PC I i7 3770K @4.5Ghz I 16GB 2400Mhz I GTX 980Ti FTW

Consoles I PS4 Pro I Xbox One S 2TB I Wii U I Xbox 360 S

Pfft, it can do even more if they start writing all the games in assembly. 4k? Meh!

PS4 Pro = 4.2TF

Xbox Scorpio = 6TF  (42% more powerfull)

Xbox One = 1.31 TF

Xbox Scorpio = 6 TF  (358% more powerful a.k.a. 4.5x as powerful)

Xbox One games = 720p, 900p or 1080p

Xbox Scorpio games = 1440p, 1800p or 2160p (4x the resolution of the Xbox One version)

So Xbox One games running in native 1080p/30fps should be able to run in 4K/30fps on the Scorpio and Xbox One games running in native 1080p/60fps should be able to run in 4K/60fps if there aren't other bottlenecks.

It's basic math.

most AAA games run in 900p upscalled to 1080p on Xbox it will be same situation for scorpio in relation to 4K

http://n4g.com/news/1781547/dismantling-the-myth-of-900p-on-xbox-one-70-of-the-games-run-at-1080p#c-10677279

And I don't even care about the Scorpio since I have a goofd gaming PC + a PS4 Pro.

But when you are using math as proof that "Scorpio won't do native 4K in AAA games" I have to tell you that the basis of your calculations is very weak.

You've not taken into account 3 things:

1) The Pro is capable of more than 1440p in many AAA titles. While it has been a common launch target, we've already seen several titles go a good amount further. The Scorpio will often be jump from resolutions like 1800p on the Pro, not just 1440p.

2) Outside of knowing it's 6TF, the Scorpio's GPU is a mystery. Until we know more about it, you can't state linear comparisons with the Pro as fact. It might turn out that linear comparisons are fine, or it might be that the Scorpios' TFs are worth more than the Pro's.

3) Many X1 exclusives already run at 1080p, since MS was willing to reduce their graphical quality (relative to what would be possible on the PS4) in favour of a cleaner image. It would be incredibly surprising if most (if not all) of those games don't run at a native 4k. Even your math would make that the case.

If you had said 'the Scorpio will not do a native 4k in all games', i'd agree. I think it's incredibly unlikely the Scorpio will offer a native 4k as a universal standard. I do, however, think it will deliver native 4k titles with at least a moderate degree of consistency. It's maybe even be it's standard (in a similar fashion that 1080p is the PS4's), but that'll depend on currently unknown variables.

Your math is rather clueless. Things don't scale linearly like that. And yes, Scorpio will have plenty of games in native 4K. PS4 already have native 4K games, like Skyrim and TLOUR, so there is no doubt there will be many on Scorpio.

But the question is: Why do you care if it ends up with games running in native 4K or not? You don't play on XBox consoles, we all know that.

So it seems like you're only doing wishful thinking.
