Forums - Gaming - Opinion: Hardcore Gamers Are Not The Majority Of The Gaming Market

Which consumer makes up the majority of the gaming market?

Average 107 87.70%

Hardcore 15 12.30%

Total:122

The majority of the market is the dude-bro that buys CoD and sports titles and is open to big budget cinematic games if theres enough hype behind them.

So, it would be the average as you described.

It's obvious the hardcore is not the majority. If it was, the Vita and Wii U would've been sucesses. Hardcore is about 10m. But they are also the early adopters so they are extremely important at the start of a cycle.

Oh this applies only to Sony and Microsoft.

If its Nintendo we are talking about, they appeal alot to the first segment you described. The casual gamer was it? When they do that them their systems sell alot, but the software not so much because its the average and harcore that buy lots of games. The casuals will only buy the Nintendo mainstream titles. Wich is why 3rd parties usually give up them.

Around the Network

If we bo by your definitions then you're obviously right. I don't think there was any doubt about that!

I read it all the first time. I guess your point isn't very clear, unless you were intentionally contradicting yourself to make the point.

When I said,

"With that in mind, there are people that clock waaaaay more time than me. So it is really hard to label anything outside of smartphone gaming being casual."

It is pretty clear that I was making an example of how pointless it is to try to label a gamer as "hardcore" because there are many different standards. You may have read it, but your comprehension was lacking.

All you did was basically repeat exactly what I pointed out in the first place.

Nope, it wasn't pretty clear the first time for a person reading on the Internet. But I get it now, so cool.
