#38 To the Moon

This is a prime example of a game driven by its story. While there are some simple puzzles in the game, it very much focuses almost all of its effort in its story. It's a good thing then that the story in To the Moon is excellent. It is well written, has good characters, and carries a genuinely emotional punch. It also makes you question the morality of the main character's actions as they tamper with the memories of a dying man to make his final wish come true. A great game, that admittedly might not be for everyone.

Hint for the next one:

Makes you work together with a potato.

Science Teachers

Well, can't argue with that.

Time for my 37-

This game has a lot of 1sts in in. 1st new feature which allows you to slide through thin areas to advance, your 1st companion, the 1st time you meet your brother, and the 1st game to have decent boxart, at least in the US. Along with fighting a usual cast of characters, you also have to fight the ones from the past (sorta), and there's 2 skulls in the end rather than one. Overall, this game was quite filled to the brim compared to its predecessors.

#38: Its first mission was incredibly hard for many at the beginning. Only 60 seconds to do everything on the list.

Driver.

Freaking first mission.

Correct!

This is probably the easiest hint I posted so far.

#38: The box-art of this game features a monstrous eye seen through a ship's porthole.

Hint 2: While the side of the box featured a typo in it's first (American) print.

EDIT: Oh and thanks Mzuzek, I have the Mega Man 2 theme stuck in my head all day...

Sorry, I meant "new" as in " hints of new games", so this are the original hints.

About #37, it's not Pikmin 3. As I've said to S. Peelman the Wii version wasn't cancelled, since it never began development... And those who "tried" to preorder the game knew it. :p

I'll keep widening the hint:

#37: Many people tried to preorder the Wii version, but they never got the game...

- Wii version wasn't cancelled, since it never began development... And those who "tried" to preorder the game knew it.

- Those people tried to preorder the Wii version mainly at Gamestop.

Remember that the game never launched for Wii... it was published some generations before.

Second hint:

This game was published in a 30 games compilation that was published last year, and its characters have made cameos for some games (a fighting game, an indie plaformer...)

Okay, gotta make it easier.

#39 - It's a platformer.
#38 - The level is named after two of the main character's most prominent equipment across all his games.

Edit: oh and you're welcome Peelman, I'm sure having such a great song stuck in your head can't be a bad thing.

That it is.

In fact, my hint for that game last year had something to do about the music being good. Guess I can't use that hint this year though. You seen this?

About your #39, not sure, seems like I could know, was thinking along the lines of Castlevania IV or Mario 3, but looking them up it doesn't really fit with your hint...
