Forums - Gaming - Why is UC4 considered a better game than Rise of the Tomb Raider?

So that wasn't done in the Prince of Persia trilogy?

Now that you say it, it was, but the shift in gameplay for Tomb Raider came after UC2 so that's where my thought process comes from, but you're right. (Btw, you just made me want to replay the PoP games, even the Warrior Within).

Oh and I forgot to mention that Tomb Raider does very questionnable things, like when Lara climbs something and it's too high for her, she pushes herself up and then uses the wall to JUMP higher.... Please, it's on the same level of bullshit as Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell Conviction and his overlapping arms when moving left and right on a ledge...

I'm pretty sure it was in Tomb Raider Legend, too. I'll double check, today.

Haha you are right.  TLOU stealing uncharted 4's thunder!

But being second class to TLOU is no small feat and nothing to be ashamed about.

Will we see TLOU on PS5?

Hopefully.  then it can be the game of 3 generations!

I think Tomb Raider is the better game, even made a thread about it. Both fantastic games though.

Uncharted 4 is the game of the generation. TR is just unlucky it got pitted up against that. Personally I don't mind it's not as good. As a PS4 owner I get to play both, and if I choose the ps4 pro version too.

I don't think its game of the generation, not even game of 2016, That goes to Doom so far. Xenoblade X is my game of the generation thus far.

The way I see it, the Uncharted saga could have been a success as a Netflix show, a trilogy of movies, a series of books, or even an animated show.

The reason why Lara has not been elevated to the same level as Nathan could be because Tomb Raider does not have this same range and even though, Tomb Raider's gameplay is semi-open world, it actually feels more unidimensional from a narrative point of view.

I'm not saying that the writing of the Tomb Raider reboot is awful, its actually pretty decent for a video game. But it falls short when compared to Uncharted.

The Angelina Jolie movies, as entertaining as they can be, really didn't do much for the character's development. I even read some of the Tomb Raider books back in the day, they all felt like a video game on paper and suffered from the same sins of the media that they were drawing inspiration from, forgettable characters with little to none personality or effect on Lara's identity.

Naughty Dog somehow manages to make video games feel like something more. And this is probably the reason why Uncharted is currently the best action adventure platform video game series to date.

TR DE and ROTTR are the best game available on Xbox One .... love the reboot. I like how they nail the feel that Lara is a Tomb raider and survivalist. On the other hand I loved the story telling in Uncharted game but the game design left to be desired, made Nathan Drake feel more like a Psycho killer then a treasure hunter. To be fair for full disclosure I still have yet to play UC3 and UC4. I do look forward to playing Uncharted the Nathan Drake collection & Uncharted 4 one day.

I can kind of get behind this post.

I liked the original Tomb Raider series on PS1, hated it on PS2, loved the first reboot (Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld) and REALLY love the current re-reboot but I've never cared for TR in any other medium.
