Forums - Nintendo - Capcom Wants Their Nintendo Switch Titles To Feel Different Than PS4/XB1 Games

Best way to make them different is making exclusives.

And I dont mean making a million Monster hunters.

There's plenty of franchises to make new games on that they own.

Mega man (RIP), Breath of Fire (RIP), Resident Evil, etc.

New IPs are welcome too.

Would not want to see ports with one modified mechanic added to them to be stated as "Different".

Yeah. I'd much rather have a new Crystal Chronicles on Switch than Final Fantasy XV, for example.

Yes, yes, yes! That's exactly what I want.

I don't care about getting multiplats on Switch. I want something I can't already get on XOne and PS4.

And Zack & Wiki 2 would be a dream come true.

Zack and Wiki was all about motion control. So Z&W2  would make much more sense for PSVR.

Cool, I mean if it means I'm finally getting MonHun in HD again then I'm down. Not like I can think of any PS4 or XBO games from them that I want.

I've seen/heard plenty of people who aren't necessarily Nintendo fans enticed by the possibility of playing their AAA experiences on the go. Like grinding out trophies or whatever during train/plane trips. So this notion that there isn't a big number of people who want those Mass Effect / COD / GTA type of games on the Switch, I believe that's quite wrong.

If the Switch will again be a mostly Nintendo only machine with a few 3rd party titles here and there will be a huge slap in the face to many people. That just pretty much settles it as being Nintendo's new handheld.

Anecdotal evidence doesn't mean much compared to hard data. The number of people buying Switch specfically for western "AAA" games is statistically insignificant, based on previous sales figures. In any event, if enough people buy the Switch, EA and Activision will show up eventually.

Also, why would Switch being Nintendo's newest handheld be a bad thing? That would be good for business.

How do you have hard data on a device that will only be for sale like 6 months from today?

Previous sales figures of what exactly? I'm pretty sure Nintendo wants to be as far away from the previous sales numbers as they possibly can for their new device.

There's this myopic view from some Nintendo fans that more of the same is perfectly fine for Nintendo. If only they could please the existing fanbase, then everything is ok. Well I'm sorry, but I don't think Nintendo's investors and management feel this way. They seem to realize they need to expand the fanbase ASAP, only the way to do it might still be up for discussion. So yeah, IF, they could get some type of 3rd party release parity with Sony and Microsoft on their home consoles, that would be an amazing boost. As I mentioned before, quite a few people I have heard seem to be under the impression that's what's going to happen and that's a big selling point to them. Sure, it's anecdotal, but until I see some poll showing otherwise I have nothing else to go by.

It's unfortunate but not unexpected. And that's probably what most 3rd parties will do.

As for what this means for Nintendo, it will depend on what games they bring and the budget they give them.

In the long term, this could be an advantage for Nintendo because if there are enough of those games and are good enough, that could make the Switch the perfect secondary console.

Please excuse my bad English.

They certainly will at 720p.

More of the same? Like WiiU? Who exactly is happy with that?

You really think a $400 system with Battlefield and Grand Theft Auto is going to expand the fanbase? No. A $200 system with Mario Kart and Pokemon will expand the fanbase.

Like it or not, most consumers out there aren't like us. They don't care about cutting-edge graphics, they don't know who Hidetaka Miyazaki is, they don't mind that Bayonetta in Smash Bros. is overpowered. They just want fun games to pick up and play. That is the audience to which Nintendo should speak. Not the shrinking pool of video game hobbyists.

I actually kind of agree I'd bet that a game like lets say for example Bravely Third would be more of a draw to switch than a number of western AAA titles because that's what the following in the userbase are after. It's not even a case that games like these would be bad on the switch because these games would be built for it from the ground up so would be much more console like than their predecessors.

My guess is that they're going to tailor their games to match the same audiences that bought the 3DS -- specifically the Japanese people who bought the 3DS. If that's the case, I expect games that emphasize local co-op like Monster Hunter and JRPGs.

I hope this means that their fighting games will actually have some content on Switch.
