That is hilarious. I wonder if someone will bother and mod the thing and see what else it can do. Because it looks like it could run N64 and SNES titles without issue.

Loll wow! Aren't tech advances amazing? That is crazy! When people mod this thing, it will be the best retro console ever!

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Seems a bit overkill for running freaking 8-bit games.
Then again, maybe this was the cheapest option. The chips with the bare minimum to do this probably aren't in mass production.

I'm surprised they didn't just use some 3DS chips then...

That is probably the reason.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Lol, shows how outdated the 3DS hardware is.. D:

The article says that it's probably because it has to output a 1080p signal while the others don't.

NES in 1080p.  Can't wait to see the glorified pixels.

So theoretically it should also be able to run SNES and N64 games too, but of course you'll have to buy a SNES Mini and N64 Mini separately (not that I mind from the POV of a collector).
