"Q: Can I use my PS4 Pro as a “second” primary account?
No, you can only choose one PS4 device to be your primary account."

This is horseshit. I have 3 ( 2 active ) Vitas and 3 ( 2 active ) PS3s. It's all very lovely, and I'm totally on the up and up. I don't pirate anything. I'm a loyal, fanatical customer. And now I want 2 PS4's active, and I can't? I don't even know what the restrictions are. Was gonna read about it a few nights ago, but was too tired.

Doesn't the primary account only mean that that's the system dowloads will go to when you buy them online, and other people can play your content without needing your ps account? You can still download anything manually to a secondary system and play on it with your account. Since I never use the automatic downloads from web purchases I'll keep my current ps4 the primary for the kids to play on with their own ps accounts.

Or do you already have that option with your 2 ps3's which is now no longer possible?

I had 2 ps3's as well before ylod and it didn't work for me. For example if I played GT5 prologue (digital version) on my ps3 upstairs, I could not play it on the one downstairs for a whole 24 hours until it unlocked again. It depended on the game though what was possible.

Hmm the only snag is that remote play connects to your primary ps4, so if I let my kids play on the old one, I can't remote connect to the new one?

Activate your PS4™ system as your primary system, using your Sony Entertainment Network account. Activating your system enables these features:

  • Anyone who uses your primary PS4™ system can use applications you purchase from PlayStation®Store.
  • Anyone who uses your primary PS4™ system can enjoy the benefits of your PlayStation®Plus subscription.
  • Your PS4™ system can automatically download content you pre-ordered, or content you've purchased on (PlayStation®App).
  • You can connect to your PS4™ system via the Internet using Remote Play on another device.
  • Anyone who uses your primary PS4™ system can use the themes that you purchase from PlayStation®Store.

Although it doesn't say primary for remote play. Guess I'll find out on Thursday.

They shouldn't have external incentives like that, I think. I think it's somewhat comparable to the trophy thing we had on PS3. The first games didn't have trophies, yet some of them got trophy support patched in. I don't think anyone charger for it, and I don't think anyone was allowed to either. I think this feels kind of similar. You have a point though, I just personally think it feels wrong. I hate it how absolutely every single thing in gaming seems to revolve around money these days.

Life revolves around money.

If that's your life, I feel sorry for you. Life revolves around what you make it revolve around, and money is just one (potentially big) part of it.

As long I can can play the way I do now. That's all I care about. I was planning on keeping all the stuff I have on my current PS4, and building anew library with the Pro. I'll sacrifice remote play on whichever isn't primary without any kicking/screaming.

So glad about the SATA-III support. Now I can just buy a 4 TB Samsung harddrive off Amazon for $140. Never have to worry about space again.

So which 4TB-HDD are you trying to fit in the HDD cage?

 This one.

0331 Happiness is a belt-fed weapon

I've got over a TB of games on my current PS4. That one's going in the living room on November 10th! I'm going to take my 2TB HDD out and pop a 1TB in it and only put games on it as I play them. I guess the Pro is going to be my primary. I'll put the 2TB in that one.

Hopefully it works exactly like primary/secondary consoles work on Xbox. I haven't seen any major differences based on what I've read.

Very full OP, covers most questions that people could have about the system, tagging this thread in case I'm asked about the system I'll just link people to here instead of trying to answer all of the questions answered in the OP.

I don't see what the issue is.

Sign into ur PS4 with ur primary account. Download all ur games. or install whatever. Then simply sign in with ur primary account on whatever PS4 you are using at the time. when you sign out your installed games or saved data all remains on your console.

Apparently there are question marks about the speed offered by sata 3 on the pro, Digital Foundry talked about how sata 2's speed is not fully realised on PS4 and they have yet to test it to see if Sony have done the samething  with sata 3 , still it has to be an improvement.

You can have any one single profile installed on as many PS devices as you want. On PS4, you have to enable the console as your "primary" console at your discretion - what that means is that you can play your games online or offline or on a different account, but only on that primary ps4. Any other ps4 you want to play the same account with, must be signed in online. So, you can have the same account on two PS4s. On your primary ps4, you can access that account in offline mode and play anything without Having to sign in to PSN. On any other ps4 that your account is installed on, you must be signed in online to play your games.

Edit - so for your situation, set your ps4pro as primary so that you can access everything online or offline, and so that all of that content can be accessed by other accounts on the primary ps4pro, and then keep your account installed on the other ps4 and just make sure you have the Og plugged into the Internet when you want to use it. I realize this might sound a little confusing

Hmm, how does ps4 handle temporarily losing internet connection? I want to use the pro as my secondary, but does that mean that if I get wifi interference in my game room, any (offline) digital game I'm playing will quit out? Or is it only when starting a game that it checks? Or even earlier when you start up the console and sign in to your profile? Can you sign out of psn after starting one of your digital games on a secondary ps4?

I better buy some more physical psvr games just in case :) Much less worries.
