Forums - Sales - Amazon U.S. November bestsellers and general Amazon-based discussion

I wonder if Amazon is going to price match Target's offer of 10% off electronics tomorrow. That means the slim and S might be $269, while the Pro would be $360 and the 3DS would be $179. Could lead to a boost in sales for each.

They just matched pricing for the XB1s and PS4Pro

Anecdote

So I was in target buying a ps4 pro, and a lady came with a kid and asked for the $300 bundle with the game. Then she asked me why am I getting the more expensive one with no game, not suprised a mom would ask me that. What did suprise me is that the kid asked me as well. So I tell them diference of the pro and slim, the kid inmedietly begs his mom for the pro then she turns around and says no.

A few things come to mind.
1.People are not that well inform on the pro.
2. the cheaper slim will be ideal for gifts. which will include what parents buy for kids. wich will be the most purchases in the holliday season.
3. the pro will primarily be purchased by adults buying it for themselves.

I know this is a lot to asume from one incident. But from whats been discused before, with the reviwers and youtubers and all the jaz, it might be probable.

P.S. I have barely touched the pro, not even started a game. all I did was put my 2tb hdd and thats it. Cant stop playing pokemon.

Which is exactly where Sony want it to be at the moment and also why the majority of adverts are pushing the Slim. The Pro is for those who are in the know while the Slim continues selling to the masses. As we get further into 2017 we'll see a shift in promotions and the Pro will be brought further to the front. By next Christmas the Pro will be $350 (with game: GT or Horizon) and the Slim will be $250 (with game: GT or Horizon).

I think this is exactly it.  They probably are breaking even or only making a slim profit on the Pro.  However, we all know they could have easily priced the Slim for $249 and probably done the same.  They are making a killing on the Slim and want to focus on that right now.  Once they get costs on the Pro down to where they are making a decent profit, most of the advertising is going to shift to it.  I'd have to say, though, it seems like the Pro is doing fine for having little advertising.

Yeah, that's the top and bottom of it. I see (and I think Sony do to) the Pro as the 'replacement' console at the moment and the Slim as a continuation of the PS4's success. Sony would probably have prefered it if they didn't have to announce the Pro so early because it's obvious from the recent months it's had an affect on overall sales, something MS capitalised on with great deals (and rightly so). 2017 is stacked with PS4 system sellers and Sony will capitalise on that.

The PS5 Exists.

The point is simple, PS4 OG and Slim are almost surely gonna be down YOY in November NPD. Last year sales were pretty damn strong thanks great bundles and big release, while this year it just has worse release and worse bundles, not much to say... price can be better than last year, but that's happen even in the others months of 2016, and withouth January, February, and May (Uncharted month) PS4 has always been flat / down , so no, this won't change this holidays, expecially considering last year the PS4 line up was just better.

So, for predict how will PS4 sells this NPD, we just need to predict how PS4 OG/Slim will be down YOY, and how will PRO sells. 300k? 400k? 500k? 1 million?

We have first week numbers for Japan and UK, and we know sales in UK for PRO were about 18% of the original launch back in 2013, and 21% in Japan. Both countries are close to 1/5 of the first PS4 week in 2013 then.

PS4 sold 1 million in North America (North America IS NOT USA) first week, 1/5 of that is 200k... But then i don't see PS4 having stock problem like PS4 in November 2013, so it won't stop selling after first week and is going to do fine in Black Friday.

Mayve in the last two weeks of November PS4 PRO can double first week numbers. I want to be optimist on PS4 PRO, while with the other two models i just don't see both sells as great as last year, i seriusly see no reason.

My guess:

PS4 family - 1.7 million
OG/Slim - 1.2 million
PRO - 500k
