Forums - Nintendo - I see a problem with NS switch

So yeah not hating or anything I think the switch looks great but I'm seeing a huge problem. It's not gonna be the combined software output we are imagining. Or should I say will games like pokemon and Monster hunter be Made in a simpler 3ds type isometric game because they are not going to want to invest millions off pounds creating new engines spending years in the process. They like quick cheap to make simple games that sell by the shit ton. This is why I think we are still gonna have software droughts.

Maybe, but I think in that case Capcom and Nintendos franchises will suffer more than gamers will.

First, instead of dividing the software output in two, it's just all in one system, that alone is a major difference. Nintendo also avoids redundancy in their developement cycles (no more two mario karts, smash, 2D and 3D mario...) and that can help them working on other games. All their engines and assets will work on the switch, no need to adaptem to massive different hardware. And 3rd parties don't have to choose between handheld and home console anymore when making ames for them. Those are major differences, and they more than compensate the need for more complex games.

Also, it was alred time to make an HD engine for MH. It's been long overdue.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Wait I'm confused. If these studios can make games cheaply and quickly why would there be droughts?

Wait I'm confused, is your issue that games will have varying budgets?? You know like games already do.
Yeah so some games might be of "handheld quality" but does that matter?? Hasn't stopped Japanese 3rd parties from releasing there games on PS4.

It's simple they will need to adapt. It's what happens every new generation or console cycle.

It won't be at first because of price most likely.  The Switch will be over 250 in price, and we all know how successful handhelds are at that price. So Nintendo won't go after the handheld devotees directly until they can get the price to a more agreable level.  Plus, they won't cut the legs off the 3DS with sales up for now and Pokemon Sun and Moon looking to be a massive mega hit.  And then there's other titles still to come for it.  So they'll ride that out until Switch either falls in price or a cheaper "Switch Mini" hits that can go at the handheld hardcore audience directly.

However, when that happens and you do see those handheld centric titles like Pokemon, I wouldn't be surprised if the design philosophy stays handheld-centric since that's the audience that generally plays them.  They'll still have far better graphics than 3DS and all that, still probably look great.  But they'll keep the pick up and play focus.  Oh, and Pokemon Sun and Moon is already moving away from that isometric design and Monster Hunter never had an isometric design.  What will be interesting is to see if certain games - Monster Hunter especially - will shift to a console focus.

Oh, so thats why developers are still making games for the PS2, Gamcube and the original XBox....

Cmon, they will have to eventually upgrade, and every console(well, most of them) continues to have software after their successor launches. Its natural.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Smash 4 was released on both Wii U and 3DS. Just saying.

That's the part I didn't understand as well.

That's my point.  Is it gonna be full off low res small games like pokemon sun and moon that look shit on 65inch tvs but great on 6 inch screens plus some decent First second and third party ( like wii u) COD AC MK LoZ etc or a mix off both?
