The console versions weren't as big, however I get the feeling that the series is far far larger in Japan than when the PS2 games were released. It will be extremely interesting to see whether the popularity of the PSP games will carry over.

Well also a big part of the PSP version is linking up with friends and others to take down the REALLY big monsters.

Which just didn't work as well with the PS2 since not everyone had it online.

If capcom takes time to implement the online features, it probably will sell a lot better.

According to the source, it sold a little under 900k first week, which is a record for a psp game.

Also psp hardware can hit 100k in japan, which is almost double of what the DS is selling in that region.

Sounds right.

Why do you think that Capcom didnt implemented infrastructure mode into the PSP version ? Because its not the way it was ment to be played . At first I thaught that it was just cheap PR talk from Capcom , but now , seeing the sales of 2G I think that they might be up to something . Still , if made right , and advertised well , Tri could become the first console MH game to pass the 1 million :)

Hm?  I thought the reason the Monster Hunter PSP games were so popular is that people would get together and play vs monsters together?

Seems like Wii Freind codes would be the logical extension of that.
