You shouldn't take that quote as evidence for supplemental hardware. He misspoke, which is obvious as he corrected himself immediately. Though people will still take the quote the wrong way.

Funny that you say this because from Kimishima's interview  I get the feeling that Nintendo plans on using many of the patents as add on devices to the Switch. I can definitely see them having a variety of choices for gamers to pick from in the future.

Well, we all knew accessories were coming - like the pro controller. I wonder what else Nintendo has in mind? I'm still hoping for a power booster device, such as those we saw patents of! That would be sweet af :D

They'll definitely release add ons like new Joy cons and the like for sure, but they won't overdo it to alienate people

I've come under the impression that Nintendo might actually release a seperate unit to attach to the Switch, as a cheaper replacement to the usual home-console generation (maybe the bid that AMD was talking about?)

I think it means game-specific Joy-cons.
