Switch's reveal has been mixed.
Some people like it, some people don't, don't try and spin this like everyone is going crazy. Quite frankly Nintendo could show anything with 3 seconds of new Mario footage and some people would be over the moon no matter what.
Their stock price dropped almost 7% after the unveil, indicating their own shareholders were not impressed with it, probably because it is very similar to the Wii U.

I haven't seen many people get their "MINDS BLOWN" by the NX, in fact the general reaction has been fairly subdued honestly... I'm not sure what's mind blowing about it.
But yeah the world is full of people who aren't anywhere near as into Nintendo as you are :P

To be fair, all console reveals generate a lot of buzz.
It's what happens after the loyal fans take those first console units out of stores during the first months and we see how the console continues to sell what determines a console's real success.
Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

then that's ok, different perspectives. Even my mom sent me a text about the switch.

Your mom is a good mom who knows what her daughter loves.
Whe I said "switch" to my mom, she pointed to a wall and said: "Right there, where it has always been".

to be fair i'm comparing the announcement of the scorpio, ps pro and switch, not the success of the machines. ps pro was like "oh ok a better ps4" same with the xbox, with the switch I see a lot of people who are not gamers reacting like "wow" and that's my point, the impact of the announcement because some people said that Nintendo was crazy because they skipped e3. Some people just want to read what they want to read to say that I'm wrong, and maybe I am but that's just my perspective, I'm not creating stories "because I'm a nintendo fan"
- no spec revealed
- no new announced game beside few secs of new mario game
- showing unsupported game (skyrim) in its trailer
Until we get more info abt NX, i PREDICT it will fail tho
Having been through every Nintendo unveil of the last 20 years, I would say in terms of excitement/hype after unveil it would go
N64 > Wii > GameCube > 3DS > Switch > GBA > DS > Wii U
DS didn't have a lot of hype at first so it is possible to not have pre-hype and still do well but DS may be a outlier. Switch I'd say is kinda middle of the pack, about the same as the 3DS, but at that time Nintendo was in a much better place (still coming off the buzz of the Wii/DS dominance era, 3D at the time was really cool because of Avatar, mobile gaming still wasn't that big yet).
N64 and Wii had huge hype immediately. Huge. There's a drop off after that to GameCube, which was still very positively received by Nintendo fanatics, remember people cheering and going crazy during the demo reel when Samus showed up.

Pro and Scorpio are enhanced versions of existing consoles. Switch is the new console from Nintendo that arrives before Nintendo's hungry fans who are hungry for more Nintendo content.
The e3 part, I suppose that comment applies to those who said it. I always think having a good showing at e3 is important for any company, but a console reveal doesn't need to be a e3 exclusive affair.
The idea of Nintendo capturing the casual market and bringing lots of people who wouldn't otherwise buy a console is something they accomplished with the Wii and Nintendo, along with Sony and Micro, have yet to prove that doing such a feat again is possible.
