Forums - Nintendo - Why NSwitch's dock hides the tablet when docked

For holding it better? dont seem so wise why...

But I have a guess

Is on the name: switch. Or you play on TV or you play as handheld, you switch between one and other. Is the end of 2 screen concept. So, you cannot have 2 screens at once. As soon as you take the tablet off the dock, the TV signal stops and the only screen displaying is the tablet. When on TV, neither even see the tablet to not confuse people: "and that second screen, dont turn on?" no, only if you Switch.

It would avoid all the wii U concept that went wrong on wii U: "why only a few games use 2 screens?" and the confusion of having to look at 2 screens. But keep the right concept on wii U gamepad: off-screen play.

Do you want a glaring light in your eyes while you try to look at the television? The dual screen purpose is killed by the console having to be in a dock in the first place.

Slap in the face of the Wii U!

if your playing at home at NIGHT and the light is on it will glare and SUPER F UP the gaming experience. your thinking way to much about it.

i always turn away my wii U pad cuz i dont like any lights or blinking when im IMMERSED!

My guess would be airflow direction for cooling the unit during higher frequency output. Getting the cooling right in console mode was probably a major concern.

I don't know if there's a 'correct' reason, but I have two minor ideas anyway: First, to shield the tablet from potential damage. It doesn't hurt to be careful. Second, to not have the tablet reflect light when you're trying to look at your TV. A screen can be quite reflective even when off.

I hope there's q good reason because it looks ugly as fudge

To protect the screen and ensure that even if it isn't secured it won't fall out.

Going by the leaked image of specs (Pascal one not Maxwell) the dock not only charges the unit and all but seems to help bump the resolution up to 1080p for TV play.

So you cant yank if forward and break the connector.
