I like it. It separates it from other products while hinting at its functionality.

Let's be honest, though, in that it won't really matter as long as it's not confusing. "Wii" sucked as a name, as did the "DS", but that becomes meaningless if the product is popular. Ford Taurus, Toyota Camry? It doesn't really matter.

It describes a funktion of the device... so yes.
In that sense its abit like the gamecube name, it fits it.

I just hope if they do another system like it, they call it the Switch II.

The japanese will read it as "Su-wi-chi" which is pretty cool I guess.

The X is a visual representation of the Cross but its also an anagram as well

How do you market that name though, Switch is simple and immediately from the name you get the concept, Cross may sound better but doesn't really have the same advantages.
