Because they will not only have access to those multiplats, they will have access to Nintendo games. Unless you like the first party games from MS and Sony, then NX becomes the home console of choice.

So you're saying the 80+ million people who bought a PS4/XBO by the end of this year are going to buy an NX to play the same games they already can play because it also has Nintendo games? That really doesnt make sense.

And yes MS/Sony published games very likely appeal to that crowd more than Nintendo published games. The person who is a big fan of games like Madden, FIFA, GTA, COD, Fallout, Destiny, Watch Dogs, etc. probably has a higher interest in games like Halo, Forza, Gears or Uncharted, Horizon, Gran Turismo than most Nintendo games.

I think you really overestimate the crossover appeal of the majority of Nintendo games with the majority of mainstream western games. Ya a few like Zelda or Smash Bros probably have a bit of crossover appeal but the shooter, sports, action crowd probably doesnt care much about the likes of DK, Yoshi, Kirby, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Mario Party, etc.

You also seem to forget that Wii U had decent 3rd party support initially, COD, Assassins Creed, Batman, Madden, FIFA, NBA 2K, Mass Effect, Injustice dod absolutely nothing for Wii U sales. NX will have a similar fate if its a $300-400 console with a strong emphasis on getting multiplats.

You think they'll buy a gaming tablet?!?

A unified platform with the purpose of consolidating their current support & userbase, sold at a low entry cost, and has unique features has a much stronger chance of success than a "me too" console designed to steal players away from PS/XB by offering the same games.

I hope it just leaks and ruins the "reveal". This thing has been so overblown and dragged on it's ridiculous. Or it's basically exactly what Eurogamer described.

I would be surprised if the NX is what EG described but one never knows...

I wonder how many "NX Reveal Imminent" type threads have existed and will continue to exist until one of them finally becomes true.

As many as this untoward echo chamber of a site continue to perpetuate, which is a lot.........

Who do you think is going to buy a $400 Nintendo console for the sole purpose of playing western multiplats?

The audience for those games is already on PS4/XBO, why would they switch to Nintendo to play games they already have access to?

According to the rumors the supposed 3.6 tflop AMD console will cost $300-350, not $400. Wii U didn't sell because it didn't have the power or architecture neccessary to win over 3rd party devs, the less hardcore Nintendo fans didn't buy it because there just weren't enough games to play. Solve the problems of low graphical power and difficult to develop for architecture, and you'll have a console that 3rd party devs of all types will support. You'll then have a console that not only hardcore Nintendo fans will buy, but also the fairweather Nintendo fans and the Sony/MS fans who also like Nintendo games (as a secondary or tertiary console for them).

Wii U had the similar power and the same architecture as PS3/360 yet it didnt get nearly as many multiplats as they did in 2013-2016. Power+architecture alone will not gaurantee support.

Had the initial wave of 3rd party games sold well then they would have continued to support Wii U but there was little audience for those games on Wii U. People either just stuck with the PS3/360 that they already owned or upgraded to the the more powerful PS4/XBO and people looking for a budget console chose the cheaper PS3/360.

Thats the same situation NX would be in, the people who already own a PS4/XBO will either stick with those or upgrade to the more powerful PS4 Pro/Scorpio and people looking for a budget console will get the cheaper Slim models.

Why would Sony/MS fans by a Nintendo console as a secondary/tertiary console for multiplats? They wont, they will buy it for Nintendo games & other exclusives or not buy it at all.

At the very least, it will keep Nintendo gamers on the console. Instead of having a backup like they have since the N64 days, they will finally have nearly all of the games the competition gets. I know I would have been Wii U only if it had the 3rd party games I wanted.

Plus there will be crossover appeal with the NX handheld, and it will get attention from Japanese and Western developers. I may overestimate it, but it will still be a solid offering that will be viable for many years.

Learning stuff everyday in here, Wii U (PowerPC CPU/overclocked Dolphin ex-ATI-nowAMD GPU console) has the same architecture as the PS3 (CELL CPU/Nvidia GPU)/360 (Xenon CPU/AMD GPU)... not making fun of you but at least do some basic research for the sake of your credibility!

all 3 are PowerPC, and Wii U was designed to be easy to port to from PS3/360.

As would a unified platform that combines the support of their handhelds and consoles.
