I specifically bought a WiiU for this. Games amazing. It's a shame WiiU didn't have other 3D platformers on it.

The question would make more sense the other way around. |
The gameplay has aged very well. Its still a blast to play. The 5th gen is probably one of my least favorite gens because of games that hasnt aged well, but SM64 has never even entered my mind when thinking about games that aged horribly. SH and RE on the other hand...

I think the gameplay is a pain in the ass nowadays and that camera is a nightmare. I honestly think Banjo Kazooie has aged better, I can still play it for hours, but SM64? I fell bored and fustrated pretty soon. In fact I have never been able to finish it because I have no nostalgia for it and the game itself is simply not very fun to play today.

I think they both have aged well. Sure the camera was a pain in the ass sometimes, but having pretty much zero control over the camera like in much of SM3DW is worse imo.

I disagree, the levels are designed in a way that you don't even need to move the camera, its design is way more elegant. M64 has an awfull camera that needs to be moved constantly, that's horrible for gameplay.
I also love this game. Haven't finished it because the post game worlds keep kicking my butt so I'm just making my way through them slowly. It's really excellently crafted. And while I understand people wanting a new 3D Mario of the 64/Sunshine/Galaxy variety, I think 3D World does some things better. Like I much prefer the non-contextual usage of power ups, similar to the good old days. I REALLY hope that if there's a Galaxy 3 they carry that over so that power ups aren't some flavor-of-the-day gimmick.

Its limited. Its annoying when you want to look up or around you for secrets. It doesnt have the great exploration the previous Mario 3D console games has.

Does anybody remember that Galaxy camera is NOT free just like in 3DWorld? Because that's a "flaw" people that praises Galaxy to death usually points at 3DWorld when both have restricted cameras, and that didn't stopped Galaxy from greatness, same as 3DW imo.

Feels more like most of the game is designed around one power up, the cat suit. It gets a bit tedious at times. Its overkill.
