Phenomenal game and definitely one of best games this gen, feast for eyes and ears and just so damn fun game espacily in multiplayer.

SM3DW is here somehow underrated only because is not scope of Mario Galaxy, but personaly I had more time playing SM3DW than Mario Galaxy, for me SM3DW is maybe even better game than Mario Galaxy even they are completly difrent games.

I want that NX 3D Mario game be totaly new kind of Mario, but for second 3D NX Mario game I would love SM3DW 2.

OK, well fuck scope then. SMG 1 and 2, SM64 and SMS are more fun to play than SM3DW.

In your opinion kid

Bullshit, Mario 64 is not even close to be as fun as SM3DW, not even remotely close, there's a hugre abysm between both, it's nothing more than nostalgia googles.

So because a game is older it cant be as good as a newer one? Thats a pretty weird way to look at gaming...

I'm talking about today, not the past. 3DWorld is way more fun to play today, you know why? Beause is a much better game. Mario 64 has more merit and is more important from an historical pov, but that game has not aged very well and has been already improved by every 3D Mario after it. Maybe M64 was more fun to play in 1996 than 3DWorld in 2013, but one thing is for sure, nowadays 64 has nothing to do against 3DWorld.

I disagree. Just like i disagree that NSMBU is better than SMW or SMB3 even by todays standards.

The structure of the game was too old for me.

It's like the New Super Mario Bros, I have no interest in playing games that feels like the old mario games I already played 20 years ago.

Mario 3D world was a step backward, and also unnecessary. We had the Open 3D series (64, Sunshine, Galaxy 1&2), alongside the 2D side scrolling series (Mario Bros 1, 2,3 World, New super mario games).
And here comes 3D world which is basically a 3D version of the old concept.

You people just don't realise that when Mario 64 was in development, a game like 3D world would have been the safe choice, but instead they pushed way beyond that, and they made Super Mario 64.

So yeah, it's not a bad game, it's even better than the New super Mario series (which are for me the "worst" games in the series) but still, it's the "worst" 3D Mario made. Mario 3D games always pushed the genre, took it somewhere nobody thought it could go, they are truly masterpieces. Mario 3D world, is just another mario but in 3D.

BTW, when I say "worst", I mean "less good". To be clear they're all good games.

And that's right, because SMW and SB3 are better than NSMB, those 8/16 bit games have aged really well, unlike Mario 64.

What exactly is it about SM64 that hasnt aged well?

The question would make more sense the other way around.

What exactly is it about SM64 that HAS aged well?

And my answer would be: Nothing.
