Forums - Gaming - Frustrating Video Game Moments: Have You Gotten Stuck on a Video Game?

The third-to-last mission (that is, mission 35) of Driver 2 was so hard. I was stuck at it for years, literally. The problem wasn't not knowing what to do, it was actually doing it. in the mission, you have to chase and wreck a car. Most of the mission occurs in a mountaneous region, and it's really easy to screw up and jump in the pit yourself when taking risks to damage the target.

Around the Network

Plenty of times
- AA 2, when I missed one minor talking part and I kept on backtracking for a long time trying to figure out what I missed
- Tales of Symphonia: Palmacosta Human Ranch, with the teleporters. There are like 8 floors, and when you warp, you can't really tell if you are progressing and just kept warping and warping and not getting the answer.. D:
- Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (GC), for those who actually played this game, they should know what I am talking about... The fields of Pelanor, where you need to fire giant crossbows at the oliphants, but there was one that Always got passed no matter how many arrows I fired.. is because you need to run to the Other side to fire the crossbows to hit it -.-
-Touch! Bomberman Land 2, couldn't progress since I missed something dumb, like in AA2 and I kept backtracking to the wrong locations

There are others, but I can't think of specifics at the moment

Yea. When I was playing homemate way back when, I was trying to have sex with that chick in the "stand up doggy style" position on the beach. So I did everything that was required like get her lewdness meter and love meter all the way up initiated the H scene. But for some reason, the chick was just doing regular doggy position. I was like wtf. So after many tries, she still wouldn't do it so instead, I went and did it with her sister and didn't have sex with her for a few in game days.

Then one morning, she woke me up and hit me since I wasn't having sex with her and then I was like fine fine. So I did everything again and bam, she did the stand up doggy position. I doubt that is what I was supposed to do cause I was probably just missing something but neh. If it works, it works.

And yes, she was a Tsundere

This cracked me up just reading this. Is this a real game? I didn't think a game would be so specific that this needed to be done in such a specific way. xD

Traitor´s Caravan on MGS5 almost drove me insane. Then, one night, I found a breach and finished the mission in seconds.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I got stuck a lot of times on many games but the most recent one was Uncharted 4 on crushing difficulty the first jungle shootout (the one from the very first gameplay demo)

One word for this part... OMFG! i almost smashed my tv and controller it's unbelievably brutally hard and i finished all the dark souls games and bloodborne.

Ice column puzzle in Alundra was one of the first instances where I can remember getting really frustrated.  Some of the dream puzzles were also tough.

No, wait, actually the first game I remember getting stuck was E.T. on the Atari 2600.  I don't think I ever figured out the point of the game.  Yeah, what the heck is going on there?

Portal 2 had a stage that really frustrated me, as well.  Even though I was determined not to look up solutions, I had to for this one.  It was one of the more story-driven levels and you had to fall from high up through a portal on the floor.

One of the Edna and Harvey video games frustrated me enough that I never went back.  Part of that was because you had to go through so many loading screens, though, when searching for clues.  I got tired of that.  Really interesting games but in this instance, I had about 5 different zones to search.

That's really cool that you've played ET on the Atari 2600. I haven't been able to play it once, let alone any games on the system. I don't think I've even seen one in person. Though from what I've sene from a lot of Atari games from videos, a lot of them looked hard to figure out.

Castlevania 2, which is pretty famous for screwing over the player with cryptic, "How could I possibly know that?" nonsense, had me stuck for over a year at a certain spot. I was rescued by Nintendo Power, and spread the word to some seniors at my high school who had discussed the problem area with me a few times. I beat Castlevania 2, unlike Castlevania 1. The "stuck" in that game was just the insane difficulty.

I rememeber hearing all about Castlevania 2 from AVGN and all the nonsense you had to go through. That game ingeneral is just so cryptic, I dunno how anyone was supposed to play it without the aid of a strategy guide.

Battletoads. The hoverbike level.

That part was pretty memorable for me as well. Me and my friend tried so hard as kids to pass it, but never could. These days we can do it, but still, we can't beat the game...

Anyone here who has played Halo 2 on Legendary will know what I'm about to talk about which is either going to be Outskirts or Gravemind. The start of Gravemind can be pretty brutal, there are two Brutes that can instantly kill you right at the start and then you have to survive waves of enemies until the door to progress opens. But Outskirts is a personal childhood nightmare of mine, why? Well...

Jackal snipers. Everybody hates these guys and for good reason. Their aim is ridiculous, anywhere they shoot you is an instant kill and they come in pairs. There is also a checkpoint right in the middle of a "sniper alley" that can soft lock the game until you are reverted to the previous checkpoint.

So how do you beat this level? Well trial and error, memorize their spots and kill them before they kill you. Or you can cheat and jump out of the map too and honestly I won't blame you if you do.

The Atari actually had a lot of really fun games, most of them being the kind you could understand quickly.  In fact, we hooked up an old Atari 2600 at the skatepark and kids who had never seen one before were loving it.  Defender, Yars Revenge, Super Breakout, games like that were simple yet challenging.

E.T. was not one of them.  I tried many times to understand the game but it was just so muddled that I never did.  It deserves to be known as one of the worst games ever.

It wasn't alone, though.  Some developers released broken games with nice box art in order to fool people, as there was really no way to know what you were getting.

I was pretty young--the Atari was actually meant for my older sisters--but I would plead with my mom to buy something from the bargin bin.  At the point my dad bought the Atari, the industry was crashing and everywhere had bins of cheap games on clearance.  Some of those games were really good.  However, I ended up with the single worst game I've ever played, as well.  I never understood ANYTHING about it.

The Cerberus Dog fight in God of War 3 on Chaos mode (Very Hard). Made me so angry lol. I beat it multiple times though.
