Forums - Nintendo - Wii U has been Hacked(Sort of)

There is now a hack which through sd card and wii u browser you can launch homebrew but also you can backup your games and run them from the program. This means you can download the game and do the reverse by placing that game in the correct path Although online gaming doesn't work so no splatoon or mario maker as of yet and it runs on version 5.5 and 5.5.1 of the wii u which is the latest and now i doubt nintendo cares about upgrading the U so no updates and the hack will work. The interesting thing is that, as it runs through the sd card and browser, the Wii U software and hardware are not affected and no bricking occurs. Now I wonder if this will be the modern way to hack stuff as it is infinitely safer and this is how, eventually, the ps4 and xbox one will be hacked. what do you think? and will you use this hack for homebrew?

I have given no links since this is technically illegal and i don't endorse this or am telling people to use this. I am mentioning it purely for a new and fresh discussion on the forum

I'm pretty sure I remember reading that the Wii U was hacked weeks ago...

It's called Loadiine and it has been available for months, maybe a year. I'm using it since a few days because I didn't want to pay for Color Splash. You only need an SD card with quite a few GBs (32gb), internet and the motivation not to quit because not everything will work out the first time.

Over one year old news.

Well I just discovered it. No one made a thread about it. And its become so easy since you can practically do it on the U only. Also I am not using grammar like its supposed to be used and I realized that if Nintendo named it the U console, it would have been a better name than Wii U

No it's not the "modern way" it's actually pretty limited and gives kernel access only not OS and doesn't modify anything because it technically can't. Well maybe it is modern because kernel hacks are becoming more common as they're easier namely PS4 has a kernel hack at 1.76 FW that can even run linux and PSVita recently got one allowing game backup loading and a lot of good stuff. Also all of the systems got hacked through a web browser exploit.
