Forums - Sony - Sony Forecasting 'Hundreds of Thousands' of PlayStation VR Sales

Unless this is given away, I see this selling less than the Move controllers or Kinect.

I still don't see people's fascination with VR. It will have a niche market and then get no support just like 3D gaming did. I really hope the NX has nothing to do with VR.

Granted, with my new Google Pixel purchase I'm getting a free Daydream set lol. Probably use a couple times then toss in drawer... unless it works for porn.

Of course. It's immensely expensive and includes a lot of cables, combined with not-so-good reviews and impressions. Sony also needed to a setup video for customers.

And "hundreds of thousands" is also true for two-hundred thousands. Considering the install base, this would be quite low but nothing else is expected, in my opinion.

So why i havent seen the move or kincet being sold out? we are talking about a 400€ device here by the way

Bwahahaha! Are you seriously taking "sold out" as something that is proving superchunk wrong? I mean... WHAT?

"Hey, let's build 50k units worldwide of this tech" -> sold out. This doesn't mean *anything*. At all.

To be honest, this is even mostly marketing bullshit. "We have to build more units, demand is through the roof!" Yeah, sure...

Do you proof for your claims and assumptions? nope

I can point out that PSVR is sold out now, you have nothing with your argument

Just as easily point out places it is not sold out. Your arguement actually lacks merit, since he has stated that if you have select number of devices, it selling out at locations is not as impressive. Also his statement is comparison to Kinect and Move which sold more than hundred of thousands at launch.

Wasn't there an analyst firm who thought they'd sell over 2.5 million PSVR this year alone? At least Sony are being somewhat realistic about their own projections. But I still have little faith in VR as a traditional gaming concept for quite some time, just like Kinect and PS Move failed to make an impact, VR likely won't change gaming in any significant way until it becomes a lot more advanced and immersive, and mainstream devices have the actual hardware means to properly run it.

You think that counter proves anything to me, it is like telling me tablet market shares when it comes to mobile phones.
