Forums - Gaming - Should psn offer refunds?

Just close that studio and arrest the dude that lied. I mean, if such pratices are crimes in the USA. Here in Brazil to make false promisses to get unfair gain is a crime called "Estelionato", Brazilian Penal Code, article 171. It translates as "Larceny" in english.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

If every digital distribution service should offer the option of refunds than why can't physical? What's the difference?

What about digital/physical movies then?

If I geta refund for every bad movie I watch I would never pay for movies again =)

I told him I haven't even downloaded the ps3 version and he said it's OK we would refund you regardless.

And rightly so.

It's in the first line. I guess the issue here and what is essentially being discussed is the scenario that the game didn't live up to your expectation and therefore should you be allowed a refund because it wasn't fit for purpose. The product is not faulty, it works and is a playable game (which many might have enjoyed), so a refund of said product would be denied, the law backs businesses up on this. It's up to the business to accept ot deny a refund unless it's faulty and many games, while maybe buggy or not broken are not faulty to the point of not working. No Man's sky certainly wasn't. It just didn't meet expectations and you can't get a refund on that anyway.

Hmm, pie.

Well that's what I was thinking.  I feel like people can just take advantage of refunding every game they want/that they're allowed.  That's why I dont understand this.

110% yes.

I know that Steam and Apple can do this, but can Sony even track how many hours you have played a game? If they cannot do this, it would be hard to stop people from abusing the system.

I'm sure they can and even if they can't, Hello Games might have a way of tracking via an in game counter.

I'm just curious to see how this plays out as both the US and UK now have the ability to start class action lawsuits. If the ASA find Hello Games guilty, will Sony and Valve still deny refunds or will they offer them before people take things further.

It's actually against the law for any company to tell a consumer they aren't entitled to a refund in Australia... Sony's refund policy is in-line with European standards here and is counter to our own laws.

Sadly, it needs to be taken farther for these companies to bother to change their policies though.

Electronic Arts had a no refund policy at one point, let's just say that didn't fly with me. - Feel free to flex your consumer rights and take it farther... The very least these companies will get a healthy fine.

Yeah I'm curious how they get away with that too. I've never tried getting a refund through PSN but I wouldn't be too happy if they just flat out said no within the first 7 days or whatever the law is.

They get away with it because the consumer hasn't taken it farther yet.
When I took EA to the ombudsmen, they were already under investigation.
Same needs to happen to these other companies for changes to push through.

Even when your warranty has expired in Australia, you still actually have rights.

Let's say a T.V has a 1 year warranty... You expect it to last a good 5+ years, if it doesn't last for 5+ years (Especially if it's a high-end panel) then the law will back you up on that.
Same goes for any other expensive goods where you expect to have years of life out of them.

Sony did refund NMS purchases tho.

For some, not nearly on the level they should have or the level Steam did. And bear in mind when you get a "refund" from Sony it's just money back into your PSN account in 99% of the situations.

All DD platforms should have refund policies similar to retail, but why would they? They make more money this way.
