Forums - Gaming - Should psn offer refunds?

Hearing how so many steam users got refunds for no mans sky makes me wonder how many would have done so on the psn if they were allowed.

Do you think this option should be added?

yes I believe Sony should add that functionality even if they make it much more restricted like: refunds up until 1 hour game time and only for 1 week after buying the game

Considering how long it took for people to leave their first galaxy, the idea of the 2 hour refund thing not applying for No Man' Sky is an exception right? What happens with the next game that "didn't meet expectation" but is a perfectly fine game? People will say to steam "But you did it for No Man's Sky".

I think many might have done it, sure but many more wouldn't.

This said I think in reality, PS Store and XB Store should offer exchange games programmes, where you can exchange the game you've downloaded and played for a 1/4 of what you purchased it for or the current value, which ever is lower (they give up their licence purchase). This way people will/may be more willing to buy more games from their stores knowing that they can save by exchanging ones they have completed, don't want anymore or didn't like. I say didn't like because a competant game but you didn't like is not reason to get a full refund (in the gaming industry... no idea this is the case mind you, I mean game shops won't take a game back at full price if you've opened the box but how will you know if it's working if you've not opened it. :P).

Hmm, pie.

It would be good service, that's for sure.

Wouldn`t that just be a bad move for Sony/Microsoft though? If people are exchanging games for money/credit they can`t really go to 3rd party publishers and ask for some of the money back, so it would have to come out of their own pockets. Considering there`s a pretty high chance it would then be spent on another 3rd party game and the small % that Sony get from that sale would probably be less than what they had to pay out for the original exchange thus just losing them money while 3rd parties get more sales.

Could work for 1st party games only of course, but including 3rd parties just seems like it would be a bad move on Sony`s part.

Bad for Sony and MS? Maybe but if it leads to more digital sales (at £55) and not shop/onlines disc copies (at £35) where there are also packaging costs. Also the publishers will be getting the money from the entire sale of the new game plus the full money from the original game, so I doubt they'll care, it's only Sony and MS that might miss out on a little money.

Cex currently offer £36 for FIFA17 (far more than a quarter of the value) in exchange and sell it for £45, their entire business is based on second hand wares and the games companies see none of that money. PSN Store sell it for £55. Yet if I knew that I could buy FIFA from their digital store and in 3 or 4 months when I'm bored of it, I can exchange it for credit for the next brand new game at £50 from the PSN store again, I might buy digital more often instead of wheeling dealing at GAME.

So, free demos for everyone?

I think that would cost Sony way too much money, and more importantly a lot of developers wouldn't be able to make a game with a slow start for fear that people who bought it would find it boring and would ask for a refund without giving it a proper chance.

I would assume they can see or know if someone had technical issues that made it unplayable and or how long they actually played.

If that's possible I don't see why not.

I'd be disqualified and that's ok because I don't think it's fair for me to ask for a refund if I only had two crashes (way less than a lot of games praised on the Internet) and I played the thing for many hours (not sure how much but well beyond $60 worth of entertainment value for sure).

Other than that I've bought many games in my life and many have not been what I expected based off advertising and I've never gotten a refund that I can remember except on a very few major mess ups. In fact the only one I can think of is EA selling me APB and then shutting down the servers like a month after launch like the royal asses they are. Even then I was refused a refund and given a game instead.

Taking it even further I've bought so many games since the Vic 20 I'm amazed this game of all the absolute dung I've shoveled through over the years is the one people have planted their flags on. I simply don't get it.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

I am on the other side of my sig....am I warm or cold?

Marco....

Every digital distribution service should offer the option of refunds.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

well, Sony could add another restriction - just 1 refund per week (or x per month) to prevent crazy abuse of that option
