PS Vue does seem like a good deal for those who want Cable/Satellite channels. From what I've seen the price is better than the cheapest packages that Comcast, Dish Network, and Direct TV have to offer, and the channel lineup is better than it's chief streaming competitor, Sling.

The top package for Vue is 64.99 for 100 channels. Charter offers 200 channels and DVR, contract free for $29.99 a month.

No, don't spread misinformation.

The top package for Vue depending on where you are is $44.99-$54.99. The package you are describing for $64.99 is the elite package which has stuff like HBO...etc.

To get a similar package (without all the extra channell bloat) you will be looking at $70/month from your "Charter" and thats even the discounted price when you sign up for 12 months.

Its all in the details.

My point is Charter is contract free, offers more and is still cheaper. lol

Charter isn't available in my area, Comcast is the exclusive cable provider here and they suck.

That sucks. What don't you like about them?

PlayStation Vue is the best TV service available in the Seattle area. I had Comcast for years up until Showtime became available nation wide, then I went Vue and Netflix only. Since Vue went nation wide earlier this year, I have been only using Vue, and I am extreamly pleased.

Vue's DVR is industry leading. I currently have 88 series in my DVR, with well over 1,000 episodes. Although their is a 28 day limit on DVR content, most content stays around for much longer as the 28days restarts each time the show is re-run, additionally, many shows have On Demand that stays active throught the entire season, so you can catch up on most shows that way as well.

Picture Quality wise, Vue is not quite up to Comcast, but has gotten much closer since launch. I have 105mbps internet, and rarly have any issues with streams. Basically, it looks just as good as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. From my time spent at friends houses with Direct TV and Dish, I can easily say Vue has a better pickture quality than those two. One thing people will complain about with Vue is the 720p output, however, all netwroks broadcast in 720p/1080i anyways and th boxes upscale to 1080p, in this respect Vue is not different, as the PS4 upscales all Vue content to 1080p out to your TV.

Sound is Vue's one downfall. They only support stereo audio, which really does have a huge impact if you are an audiophile or have a nice reciever andspeakers. As a work around you can use some TV Anywhere apps that support 5.1ch audio until Vue gets updated.

I would definitly give Vue a try on the 7 day free trial. It may be advisable to wait until you get the PS4 Pro for your main TV, as PS4 is by far the best device for Vue. You will get a good experience from PS3 and the Fire TV Box though, and the android/ios app has worked very well both on wifi and 4G. I can not recomend Roku or Fire Stick though due to too many issues, and or lmited inerface due to the under powered devices.

It's great to see this service taking off. Could be a big revenue earner for Sony in a few years.

Do not use the fire stick for PlayStation Vue.  If you are going with Amazon you have to use the FireTV.  Th FIreStick tends to lag and have some other issues(crashes, video quality issues, etc).

Over all though I have been using PlayStation Vue for 4 months now on two TV(mainly using Fire TV on both) and it has been great!  We had a couple of hicups early on, but they seem to have worked them all out.  The quality had been very good with a few exceptions.  Fast moving scenes can 'break up' a little bit some times and occasionally we get issues with picture quality, but that is pretty rare now.

The DVR can be a bit of a pain at times as there is no way to 'record' just the new episodes, it pretty much records every episode.  It only keeps the shows for 28 days, so if you like to horde and binge that could be a problem.  Though a lot of the channels are getting On Demand now, which pretty much fixes that issue.

Over all we have really enjoyed it with very little problems.

FYI: I run at 100Mbps.

Completely agree, me and relatives have used all the following methods.

Fire stick

Roku stick

Fire player

Android TV

PS3 & PS4

And all the stick type devices seem to choke every now and than , and are slower in UI vs the other top set Box's the middle package with SEC & B10 & ESPN along with Fox pretty much has a large sports package already...lol

The service has been pretty great..been a subscriber for 6 months and its pretty great..that's with only  30 Mbps ..able to stream two TVs at the same time with one account..

I AM BOLO

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

Well, for starters, their cheapest package is $40 a month, $10 more than PS Vue. $40 a month for 45 channels, as opposed to $30 a month for 55 channels with PS Vue. Their next cheapest package is a whopping $68 a month for 140 channels, there's no mid tier package like there is with PS Vue. They also charge far too much for internet imo.Their business practices also suck, they have a bad habbit of forcing their way into areas by buying out all of the competition, making themselves the sole provider of cable services in that area. That's what they did here, bought out some other smaller companies until they had a monopoly in my area.

So, it's mostly down to price gouging. I'm moving to an era where that is the only cable provider. There's Dish and Direct TV, but Comcast will be the only one that uses cable. I was tempted to use them, since there's no contract, but... maybe not?

Have you tried their internet service?

Yeah, I use them for internet because I pretty much have to. The only other internet options at my address are DSL, which is too slow, and satellite internet, which has too high of a ping time for online gaming. I'm getting about 28 mbps for $70 a month I think. Other options are 10 mbps for $50, 75 mbps for $80, 150 mbps for $85, and 2 gbps for $300. Pricing is definitely too high for the speeds imo. Ping time is good for online gaming though (less than 50 ms usually) and I don't have too many outages (maybe once or twice per month I'll have a 15 minute or so outage and occasionally one that'll last longer).

Now I see what you're talking about. Charter is 60 mbps for 60 dollars a month. Ugh... I sure hope pricing is better in the Chicagoland area than it is where you're at. I don't want to shell out 80 dollars a month for internet.

Ok, guys. I'm on the seven day trial period from Friday of last week. Here are my current experience with PlayStation Vue.

-Compared to DirecTV, the sound quality of more robust and clearer.
-Compared to DirecTV, the picture quality is just a little more vibrant, and it might be a hair better in detail. The vibrancy I'm sure of. I hope it's not my imagination in regards to the detail.
-When the picture first appears, it's on the soft side but sharpens shortly afterwards.
-The menu guide has the stations in alphabetical order across the top of the screen.
-The search function works the same as on the PlayStation Store, making it easy to find a show.
-When accessing the menu guide, it takes a longer than I would like for the channel listing to show up.
-It's obvious Sony had the Dual Shock layout out in mind as the remote controller. As long as you don't mind holding the controller with both hands, access to features do feel quite streamlined. I was able to used the PS3 Bluetooth remote and my Sony TV remote to control the PlayStation Vue interface.
-I had both Netflix and PlayStation Vue streaming to two different TVs with no degradation of quality.

This is certainly different than conventional Satellite, but so far it feels much better. My biggest fear is probably the unknown. I'm just about to pull the plug on DirecTV. I probably just have to get used to using PlayStation Vue as if it's second nature.
