Why are people saying it takes so long to grow a mustache? Till your 40? Are you kidding? I'm 19 and am able to grow compariable facial hair in just a few months

I also dunno, even as I doubt you can actually grow a similar mustache like Mario's at your age, Star.
(which doesn't mean you can't grow a mustache xP)

But Mario has older traits IMO, he doesn't look young, he looks like a middle aged man or almost there.
That's how he was representated on that live action movie as well, as horrible as it was.

If you shaved his mustache, he wouldn't look old at all. And besides, I'm pretty sure the creator has precende over a non canon movie.

yeah - back then people wanted to look older and they did - it is now that we want to be younger and younger - a 40 yo now wishes to be 24.

He looked like a 40 something plumber back when Miyamoto conceived the show in the late 80s.

And if he was 25 back then then he's 50 now anyway.

When I started playing Mario games I was younger than he was. Now I'm more than twice as old as him. Living in the real world sucks.

Miyamoto did not make the cartoon.

He didn't make it but without his consent we wouldn't have it. Clearly Mario is supposed to be a 40 something plumber. If not his age was clearly not a thing he defined in the 80s then like he now claims.
