It's a political ad, it doesn't have to be "neutral" nor do people (even famous people) need to have neutral opinions.

The reason it's pushing voter registration is generally the Democrats win when voter turn out is high. Republicans benefit when voter turn out is low, that's why they usually try to supress voter registration.

I believe Robert Downey Jr. is/was a Republican by the way, so the fact that he's in an anti-Trump ad is pretty damning.

I'm probably voting for Hillary if anyone but that doesn't excuse throwing in a political endorsement in the middle of a "just go vote" ad

And of course, all of them were paid a ton of money for this. That's how the world works.

Robert Downey Jr made 50 million for the Avengers.  Even if he was willing to do political ads for money, they couldn't afford him.  Is it that hard to believe that a handful of celebrities legitimately dislike Trump and are willing to take a few hours out of their day to make a video about it..?  Or is any anti-Trump sentiment part of a conspiracy?

Yes, it is absolutely that hard to believe.

You think 70k is anything more than coffee money for Katy Perry?

You can call it a conspiracy if you want to, I think that would be giving them too much credit though. I don't think most of these people give a shit. Its just the cool, hip thing to hate Trump and call him Hitler.

Why is it disgusting? Don't like the characterization of Trump? Does the characterization of Clinton as 'a bitch that should be in jail?' bother you as much? Do you really think they were paid money? They most likely weren't. They most likely were trying to help the campaign by donating their time. I've certainly volunteered for political campaigns, and I wasn't paid. Why can't celebrities, who are just as likely to be passionate about campaigns, do the same without people assuming it's because of 'money?' There's a good chance Scott Baio wasn't paid to be the most famous person at Trump's RNC convention. He probably just actually supports Trump.

You werent paid because you're not famous. Please don't be this naive. A name and a face holds power and value.
'a bitch that should be in jail' who says this? Every mainstream media across the entire fucking western world vomits over Trump every day. Even my local, Swedish newspaper has to attack Trump at least once every other day. Yes, I'm very bothered by this. I'm extremely bothered by how mainstream media is this fucking childish. Nothing new ofc, but the election has shown it so clearly.

Are you saying Scott is out there, supporting Trump actively, even being at the conventions? If so, then how is that in any way comparable to this safe, long distance attack in videoform? They aren't actively supporting anyone, they were paid to do an ad.

Update, 5:46 p.m.: Clinton’s press secretary Nick Merrill sent us the following statement: “Katy Perry has voluntarily donated her time and energy to the Hillary for America campaign at no cost, and we are extremely grateful for her support. In compliance with campaign finance rules, basic production costs have been paid for by the campaign.”

Good article.

Well then. That's embarrasing. I deserved that, not checking, not knowing there was an update..

Despite this example falling extremely flat, I still stand by my words

This isn't a shock.

I've never liked "get out the vote" campaigns, whether they're pretending to be unbiased or not (they never were, they always target specific demographics on purpose). If you wasn't going to vote until Scarlett Johanson told you to, I don't want you voting. You're a moron, you shouldn't be involved in the process.

In all fairness, I'd do most things Scarlett Johanson told me too.

I'm not sure what your point is.  If 70K (the explanation that it was used to cover expenses seems reasonable)  isn't anything more than coffee money to her, then doesn't that mean she's most likely doing it because she legitimately supports Hillary?

Considering how easy it is to find people with strong opinions against Trump in the general population, I'm confused as to why you find it so hard to believe that there are celebrities who also strongly dislike him.

Fine, substitute Kid Rock or Oprah into that statement

We all have agendas and well all push them in some way. What's wrong with celebrities doing the same

I dont know. But ask the oculus rift guy. apparently its bad.

I've dealt with hollywood and most enternamers being against my viewpoints by no longer supporting them. If they are anti gun, pro choice, for big government, anti american, I dont watch or support them in any way. If they want to be anti gun and star in gun riddled movies, I wont watch them. If they say they care about life but are pro choice, I dont support them. Netflix has made things much easier. They dont cave into these people and keep them grounded by running their entertainment more like a normal business.

Cellebrities are essential to getting young uninformed voters supporting socialism.
