It doesnt have to be a choice nore does it need to be. Xbox isnt focused around the Japanese audience and its no loss for many who dont play Japanese games. I have a choice and i still dont care. If they took all the Japanese games off Steam i wouldnt even notice. Only Japanese games i play are NIntendo ones which requires an Nintendo system.

Its nice to have a record on how well these consoles do in different countries, however it has no baring on majority of the gaming world or affects Gaming in any way. Unless your Japanese with an XB1.

I don't know if you know, but Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, Sega, Bandai, From Software are Japanese companies. I think that you don't like RPG, but it is impossible to not like any of the games of any of those companies since they make games for nearly every single genre. Unless you  only like 1 genre.

I think you misunderstand what i mean by Japanese games. I mean Japanese games like Anime not Japanese companies. I am a huge RPG fan, World of Warcraft, Mass Effect. The Witcher and Elder Scrolls are western based RPGs. Games like Persona dont sell well outside of Japan. Plus games like Dark Souls are designed for a world wide approach even know its made by a Japanese company.

As for your post before, 1 million consoles sales is nothing for a console. The XB1 has sold over 22million units, 1million isnt crazy. For the WiiU 1million might be considered alot. The Japanese market isnt huge, it adds little to the lifetime sales of a platform. Look at the 360, sold over 85million consoles with 1 million being in Japan. Its honestly not even worth it.

It's not worth it for Microsoft because they're just losing money there this gen.

For Nintendo and Sony it is worth it and a profitable venture.  the xbox got a foothold in Japan.  The 360 showed good growth after Microsoft threw the kitchen sink at it.

Microsoft disagree with you,  hence why they invested heavily in Japan last gen.  Their investments have failed.  doesn't mean they didn't try and doesn't mean they wouldn't like a slice of that Japanese pie.

Unfortunately for them Nintendo and Sony keeping it all to themselves.

Lol, it addeded 12 Millions for the Wii 10 Millions for the PS3 last gen. Japan is still bigger than the UK (4 countries) for console gaming.

Dark Souls is sooo  focused in Worldwide appeal that it  is the kind of game that launchs for Japan before any other country, and is a success. The Japanese version of  Dark Souls (3 millions of PS4) outsold the American Xbox One's version (12 millions).

Resident Evil, Metal Gear, PES(for who like it), Tekken, Ace Combat etc Are made in Mars,  are not ?

Do you know that both Playstation and Xbox are avaliable in dozens of countries and, since the USA is = to more than 50% of Xbox, and over 30% of Playstation, every sale is important.

PS4 and Xbox One crossed the 3 Millions of units sold in the Uk after 3 years. A console, that don't appeal for the country, to sell 1 Million is very impressive. The Xbox 360 already had sold 1 million at this time in the generation.

Not really.

The xbox One is a disaster in Japan, the WiiU is poor and the PS4 is not good.  The PS3 was bad for a playstation console so the PS4 "matching" that is not performing "remarkably well".

No home console is going to perform as well as the PS2 ever again. That's a pipe dream. The console market has shrunken in that regard since gaming has splintered since then. This is about what's to be expected.

Now say if the NX was a hit, I'm not sure if you can classify that as handheld or console though.

Exactly.  A pipe dream.

Meanwhile the ps4 is matching it's predecessor in a really tricky home console market.  Bravo.  It's the shining light in the japanese home console industry.

This market alone will add a minimum of 8m units to ps4's lead over the xb1 worldwide this gen.  And they say Japan doesn't matter!

It's almost single-handedly the reason why the ps4 line up is so diverse and much different to it's rival the xbox.

This. There's also still a chance the PS4 will match the PS3, possibly pass it. Pro will help keep its baseline sales higher. We have FF15 and FF7 Remake coming, which will help boost sales quite a bit. DQ11. VR may also be a small hit in Japan. Just so many things left that will help sales.

Exactly.  Ps4 keeping things very healthy for itself.  It's great to see really.  I always took a liking to the japanese console market. And it would have been a shame if the ps4 followed the Wii U and xb1 although the Wii U didn't flop, it just underperformed.

Apple is just about the only western company I know of that sells well in Japan... It's always been part of the Japanese culture to reject foreign companies and products to a greater degree than most countries do.

Basically, give them a decent home-made alternative and you can kiss foreign sales goodbye.

People tend to misunderstan the scenario for consoles in China before the ban was lifted. Consoles ALWAYS were sold in mainland China, and China is pretty much a PS territory (for consoles anyway), and PS brand was already pretty strong there. When the ban was lifted XB1 was the first to be available officially, but this doesn't mean much, even sales wise, the grey market still much bigger than the official one.

I know that 20 years ago they had some Mega Drive and NES clones at least. Because they were the ones who manufacture them

I'm not talking about that. In China it always was very easy to find consoles that came from other Asia countries, like Hong Kong, Macau and Japan, via the gray market. It always was pretty easy to buy consoles, accessories and games through the gray market. Officially released consoles started again last year, but it doesn't mean console gaming in China started there.

Hah I was mostly talking about tech...  I suppose there's probably a few non-tech companies that have caught on there.

Is KFC as huge in Japan as it is in China? Never been to Japan but while in Beijing I was chocked to find a three story KFC in the dead center of town lol
