Forums - Gaming - Buying RareWare back!

So Sea of Thieves is garbage. Just wondering since ti looks fun.

Well it doesn't interest me in the slightest and it's not like a typical rare game. Maybe it's not fair for me to call it garbage but it just doesn't look like a RareWare game to me.

Those saying Nintendo should buy Playtonic because its made up of old Rare members... They probably have a year or 2 left in them before they retire, what a waste of resources if that's the case.

I don't care who owns Rare, I just want to see the creators make another Banjo Threeie before they leave the industry.

Sony seems to be the only people giving near full-freedom to developers with projects, just look at the Horizon interview on youtube!

Give it to Nintendo and you will see one rare game every 5 years, just not the IPs you want.

The people (formerly) at Santa Monica et al may disagree...

What are you talking about? They even gave them the freedom to go and look for new ventures!

Why does Sea of Thieves  not look like a Rareware game.  What is a typical Rare game because studios do change and grow and they really should not be stagnant.  Personally I would not want to be reduced to only just do platformers or only do just Fist person shooters.  I would like for studios to express their creative talent as broad as their ability to make a high quality product.  How is it that people can congratulate developers when they expand into new territory and then in the same breath want them to keep doing the same old stuff.

They were releasing 2 games per year with Nintendo.

As it has been said on the thread, just buy Playtonic. Nintendo had a great chemistry with Rare back then, I wondered why they didn't buy them. We'd still be getting groundbreaking Banjo games today probably. Not nuts n' bolts...

Or they could just buy Playtonic. That would be a better idea!

They owned 49% of Rare.   Most of the talent had left the company after Star Fox Adventures so Nintendo sold back its shares to the Stamper Brothers (who founded the company).  They in turn sold 100% of the company to MS.

Ah, that makes sense. Wonder why their talents left rare then.
