This franchise is so much better than any GTA or other sandbox games. It's a shame the west has such little appreciation for it.

I honestly don't know if I would call this exactly comparable to the other sandbox games. Their is huge difference between the level of freedom of going absolutely anywhere in games like GTA and Skyrim vs Yakuza.

Also reason the west usually does not appreciate it, is because of how horid sega is handling localization and marketing it. They came out way too late after the Japanese launch, 3 had missing parts, 5 was digitally only. Yakuza 1 and 2 had such a limited print.
