Forums - Nintendo - The Pokemon Company CEO basically confirmed that NX is hybrid

Is implied, but not confirmed..

What is more exciting, though, is that Pokemon is coming to the NX! Amazing! o:

Well ofcourse that coming when NX is handheld and home console in one. :)

That doesn't really help. Because all the declarations from Nintendo in the last years gave us clues for a environment like IOS. Meaning that there will be more than one device but only one OS/architecture. But it also could be only one device, we don't know

So his declaration doesn't confirms or denies that there will be only one device. And anyway, since the Pokemon Company always make games for both the home system and the handhelds... Well it's just "duh"

It's not duh you duh-mmy.

It means there will only be NX, since as you just said they usually make games for both systems , and now they will only be developing for one.

And there might be varying grades of NX, but it won't be different formats (home & portable). That's what his statement is hinting at.

You're the one who wasn't precise with your comment. If you meant that the NX could be 2 devices, you should have said so. Because when everybody says the NX will be a hybrid, they mean, the NX will be one and only one console. And you said THE NX, 2 times. So next time, be more clear.

Also, this whole declaration doesn't give any new information because we have known for a long time that Nintendo is unifying development for both handhelds and home console. They said it a number of times, there is absolutely no debate about this, it's done.

The only debate is what the hardware(s) will actually be.

So no, there is nothing to read between the lines that we don't already know.

As for the "duh", it was for the article, not you.

I mean, I believe the rumors, but no this didn't confirm it's a hybrid. NX has been referred to as a platform that treats handhelds and consoles as brothers.

So this is just that. Pokemon will be on the platform. That doesn't stop if it's not the hybrid. It would still be changing the concept of what it means to be a home or hand console.

For me, the NX will be two machines autonomous but sold together, 1 home console (2 TFLOPS) and 1 portable (probably GameBoy updates) with a lot of interactions
Games could be hybride, Pokémon battles with Nice visuals and online mode on the home console, and Pokémon stories on portable with local battle...

doesnt confirm its a hybrid, he basically told us nothing lol

it COULD be hybrid, but at the same time what he says also fits in line of two systems sharing the same library of games as well

He confirmed that NX will have a home element, and a portable one, and that Pokemon will be on it. Nothing beyond that. I think it's safe to say that NX is indeed the successor to both Wii U and 3DS, however.

Shared library = effectively the end of the Nintendo home console.

If you put all the Wii U games on the 3DS, the Wii U's sales would be like 4-5 million instead of its already pathetic 12 million, even if it could play 3DS games.

And to have a shared library you can't have a huge gap in power between the two devices. Bye-bye 2 TFLOP console dreams.

No he didnt say that. He said NX changes the relationship of what people think of a portable and a home device. That doesn't mean distinct devices, in fact if I had to bet money, that does likely mean a hybrid.

Also again he refers to the NX in a singular tense, just like Nintendo did a week or two ago and no mention of a "platform" moniker either. It's only "the NX".

NX is referred like platform that treats handheld and console as brothers only in January 2013, year after that Iwata said this:

"Still, I am not sure if the form factor (the size and configuration of the hardware) will be integrated.

Whether we will ultimately need just one device will be determined by what consumers demand in the future, and that is not something we know at the moment"

Hybrid actually perfectly fits in that statement and actually infos we have about NX (all sources saying that NX is a hybrid devaice).

His words don't indicate a single device either NX may just be like IOS for all we know much like Iwata referenced so he would refer to it in a singular tense.
