Halo 6 and FM7 should do 4K 60 fps. At that point they'll have a Gears 4 GOTY edition with 4k support....perhaps others which are already getting HDR support like Scalebound...maybe Crackdown.

You expect 4K native games from first party from consoles billed as '4K' and 'premium'.

Forza yes, as racing games are not that intensive graphically, but I highly doubt you will see Halo 6 at 4K with 60 frames. Halo 5 had to run a highly dynamic resolution(dropping to the 800P at times) to maintain 60 frames. You might see Halo 6 at 4k with 30 frames but with lower quality effects etc.

Pretty sure Doom runs 4K High settings on PC on similar older Radeon GPU hardware. I don't think its longshot at all, provided the optimized environment. Halo stylized aesthetic is something that would be comparable i think to that , so they could do it with some elbow grease.

If we get a confirmation that Scorpio's CPU is more advanced than Jaguar(should be considering they are targetting 4K) its very well a possibility i think, because the console packs a wallop of GPU bandwith and would be at home with all the draw calls it can get.

If some games runs 30 fps in a campaign, so be it. That is expected for console. In that instance they can push for higher fidelity.

Because people like all the comments above me will gobble it up like this?

Possibly but I don't think that's the case. Alot of people will be pissed off if they flip-flopped a year later and said "Oh we meant when you play Scorpio games on PC!". But we will find out in time :)

They technically didn't flip flop then. It's just the press and the consumer misconstruing simple words.

I think both Sony and MS jumped the 4K gun. I only know two people who have 4K TVs and they are both low end 4K TVs with no HDR, low hertz etc. Seems the whole industry is pushing for 4K when the content is just not there yet. Alot of  broadcasts aren't even 1080P...

I actually own a high-end, HDR capable 4k TV myself, but there's little to nothing available that puts it to good use. I never considered another 1080p TV though, since 4k is coming and is bound to grow a lot in the coming years.

I think you're right on jumping the gun; my 4000$ rig from last year can't really play games properly in 4k, consoles are still years away from accomplishing this feat at anywhere near acceptable frame rates, especially at an affordable, mainstream friendly price. Heck; only a small number of enthusiast PC gamers can pull off proper 4k gaming for now, it just takes so much brute force, especially with any kind of effects enabled.

So  true man. I remember back in 2014 when 4K TVs were popping up in stores and the only content they had to show on there were the promotional videos developed specifically for the TV by the manufacturer and some documentaries. This was when they were charging $5,000 for a 50inch 4K TV!!

The situation is a bit better but UHD is still very limited in terms of quantity and variety(only new and big budget releases). 4k Netflix/streaming is not even of 1080P blu ray quality and bandwith is an issue for lots of people worldwide. PS4 Pro will help as will Scorpio but those games still have to be developed with the base consoles in mind which might gimp the pro/scorpio versions. Don't even get me started on those $800US+ video cards that struggle to play 4K even close to 60 frames either...

I think the more important part of this is Sony's admission that most Pro 4k titles will, in fact, not have native 4k. Upscaled 4k is not 4k at all in my eyes. I was wondering how Sony thought the Pro could pull of 4k and it turns out it can't (for the most part).

Conversely, this is good for Microsoft. Considering the Scorpio was known to be more powerful, it's no surprise that it's going to have better 4k support.

The Scorpio time frame is an unknown as well.

I remember when MS said Xbox One would output a resolution of 1080p but it was in fact 720/792/900p instead of the real thing and tried hard to tell anyone they wouldn't see the difference and/or the difference wouldn't matter.

And they got burned for saying such a thing. Now it seems like the difference between native 4k or not isn't important anymore because, you won't see a difference ehh... lets' just see how this plays out. Lots of funny spins ahead.

I never really cared about resolution, to me fps is far more important. If a game sacrifices fps to achieve a certain resolution I think they should lower that resolution and not care for the resolution war fanboys.

But will it be $399? And if I don't like a game will native 4k make me like it?

Lol..... sony might as well announce a PS5 now for 2019 and everyday talk about how that machine will run every game natively in 4k@60fps.... and make donuts.

Cause outside some talking heads we know shit all about the scorpio yet they talk about it like it's coming next week.

MS are really taking attention away from the current Xbox One S by constantly promoting their next console/iteration that comes out in 14 months.. This is quite foolish considering the price the Scorpio will be will make it out of reach for alot of casual gamers...

Its just something to talk about. They can't be talkimg about the XB1 anymore cause its had its ass handed to them by Sony for the past 3yrs (almost). So as far as gaming goes all they can talk about is the scorpio.

When sony is talking about games on the PS4/Pro MS obviously can't come and day "but the XB1s plays 4k movies" as their own part of the conversation. So they will talk about scorpio instead.

You are right. However I feel they are really burning the candle at both ends here.

Yeah... i really don't believe you MS. Phil should just tell everyone working with Xbox to shut the hell up about what the Scorpio will be able to do. I mean, maybe MS first party games will get to 4k natively but I very much doubt 3rd party will have the same luck.
