Forums - Gaming - Final Fantasy VII Remake Release Date and News Update

To be honest, I think I'd rather just prefer a moderate upgrade to the graphics (like say to FFX level) and keep the game the same otherwise more or less.

I don't trust Square-Enix to "improve" the game by "updating" it with more modern mechanics and probably changing the story.

This is why it's called a remake and not a remaster.

That is absolute nonsense. What is the difference between episodic and multi-part here? Is it not episodic if it only has 3 episodes? Might want to inform TV series of that.

The game is obviously episodic. Its the main game divided in 3 parts. Its not 3 different stories with some connecting threads.

This. You can argue all you want about the length of those episodes making a difference, but in the end, you've split one story into 3. That's not to say I hate the way they've done it, cause I prefer this way if we can get the first Episode by holiday 2017, which is when I actually do expect it.

wrong.

FFXIII is one story split into 3, which makes the FFXIII Saga. The development team said so themselves.

Yoshinori Kitase "Whereas with Final Fantasy VII Remake, we already have a preexisting story, so it wouldn't really make sense if that isn't encompassed in a multipart series... So if we're just looking at each of these parts, one part should be on par with the scale of one Final Fantasy XIII game."

Eh, I doubt it'll come out early 2017 but we'll see, still I think that by "full sized games" they actually mean "full priced games", meaning that to get the entire remake people will have to spend something like 180$

See!? I told you guys. It is going to be a trilogy so rest easy.

FFVII Remake is a multipart game like FFXIII, not an episodic game.

"the gospelherald, the ecumenicalreport" LMAO! You got any legit sources claiming Part 1 is coming early 2017?

Would make sense for at least one part to be released next year, as it's the 20th anniversary... although I'm wondering what they're gonna' do it make it into three games; will each game be based on each of the three discs of the original, meaning they'll be shorter when played on their own, or will they be creating new content and adding on to the story to make each game in this trilogy the standard 40-50 hours we see in a Final Fantasy?

So likely

Part 1 - Midgar
Part 2 - Search for Sephiroth and black materia
Part 3 - Cloud recovering and final battle

I hope they fill in between the games in that case with new content - hopefully they'll add some stuff from Crisis Core and Before Crisis stories.

OR

it could be even something better.....

Part 1 - Final Fantasy VII

Part 2 - Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core and Before Crisis flashback

Part 3 - Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus

Each part is probably gonna be 15 hours long, 3x is 40 to 45 hours total, the original length of FF7. Of course each part is gonna be AAA caliber and full of content.

~15 hours is also the perfect length for the cinematic, action packed game it's trying to be.

Either they will:

-spread the content of the original game over 3 parts

-split the original game in 2 parts, and make part 3 a sequel

So many warning signs, so many warning signs.

Sure seems that way. Why charge only once for a game when you can charge people for it 3 times?

I guess it works out for me, since the best bits are in the first third of the game. I only need to buy it once. I wonder if they expect the same sales decline as they do Final Fantasy XIII.

The article is from Spring 2015. I highly doubt that date still stands.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

The waiting... It begins.

I'd be impressed if it made it out by Holiday 2017.

nah man, it's just to show that FF7R is not episodic as some people fear it would be.

Yeah... Lord of the Rings Episode 3 was really something.
